Cadbury · 06/09/2004 15:29

Eat, lurk around mn, eat, lurk, check my dads house, collect dd from preschool, eat, lurk. Not a terribly successful day. How are you doing Nickola? Thinking of you lately. Has your course started?

I'm still in my nightie
But it's only 10.30 here (USA) and it's a Bank Holiday! So we're all slobbing. God knows how we're all going to get up at 7 for school tomorrow though.

suzywong · 06/09/2004 15:40

nikcola getting broadband sorted out it VITAL, so you can pat yourself on the back for today, I mean it.

I have registered with a GP. taken DS1 to the library for borrowing and reading, 5 km round trip so exercise for me, played with the kids, made some cordial from the lemons on the tree in the garden, not lost my temper with either child, gone to the supermarket for a groceries and a packet cake mix so DS1 can make a birthday cake a la 'Spot makes a cake' for DS2's first birthday on wednesday. Then I have been getting slightly tipsy and eating nachos and Kraft French Onion Dip an d looking though digital photos with DH. Now the roof of my mouth feels like it has been coated in industrial adhesive.

Night night

NOT ENOUGH!

Got ds up, hung up washing, put new load in, persuaded Ds to eat (strawberries/cereal), opened work letters, had a meeting with a barmy nutter, given some advice to colleagues, made the odd phonecall and a list of jobs not done, faffed on MN...

Dropped DS at school at 8:45 then came home to find DH still waiting for DD1s taxi, DD1 went to nursery in taxi, had the council in to re-skim my hall, stairs and landing, then at 12pm took DD2 to preschool, came home, tidied the living room, playroom, and kitchen, hoovered downstairs (couldn't get upstairs with the council bloke there) took dog for a walk with DH, then listened to music, which makes a huge difference to cBeebies then picked up DD2 from pre-school, went to DS school, picked him up, came home and waited for DD1 to come home in taxi, she is home now (just) and they are all quiet, I think its tired them all out today.

lilibet · 06/09/2004 16:05

Got up put a load of washing in. Pegged washing out. Got 2 kids dressed in fancy dress costumes for nursery as today is dressing up day for charity week at nursery. Left house at 7:20am, get kids to nursery for 7:30, drop off settle in take a couple of pictures of kids in fancy dress. Mad dash across town to get to work for 8. Traffic awful, kids are deffinately back at school. Get to work have a cuppa. 1st of the day. Weekly team meeting, catch up on what happened over the weekend + THurs + Fri when I don't work. Check various trials. Takes up most of the morning in between MN posting!!!! Lunch habve a mooch round the shops. Pm start a report that's been sitting on desk a couple of weeks. Now, having a quick cuppa before finishing at 5 going to get kids from nursery, getting home ½ hour play, bath ds and dd. Get them ready for bed. Battle with dd as she's only been in a grown up bed since last Wed + thinks it's a great game to keep getting out. Get bags and clothes ready for work/nursery next day, make dinner for me and dh, wash up, get washing in off line. If I have the energy iron it, otherwise get aother wash ready for the machine, have a quick bath and collapse in a heap in bed!!!!!!

xoz · 06/09/2004 16:28

Got up, m,ade breakfast for me & dd's,had shower, got dd's dressed, hair done, etc, ready to go, hung out 2 loads of washing, took dd1 to playgroup, dd2 to Toddler group, came home went dow n the shops, had lunch, looked in a few shops, met dh so he could look after the kids while I had an eye test, found out I have a degenerative eye disease which could end in legal blindness unless I start wearing hard contact lenses immediately (!) (not very pleased about this ), cam ehome and have now been trying to find out all I can about keratoconus on the net while dd's watch CITV....

MancMum · 06/09/2004 16:42

i have done more today than in a week at work - taking time off to look after kids whilst their SAHD is away... god it is endless the work with kids isn't it.... but the rewards... still wweeping from DS aged 4 saying that he was in love with me and always will be ....!

MancMum · 06/09/2004 16:43

xoz -sorry but just seen your post - what awful news - hope you are OK? Is it definite you will lose sight - or will leses prevent that?

Flossam · 06/09/2004 16:48

I have got out of bed, had to complain to Energywatch again about the nasty debt collectors threatening me Sorted out a loan , collected some mail from the delivery office, causing me to find DP has been wasting our money again , which has led to an argument so I went and wasted some more money on a little stereo as we have no way of playing CD's in our house at the moment. Tidied up a bit, done a bit of essentials shopping, now trying to get myself to bed for a bit before my night shift tonight, but I still want to hang my nets back up and try and wash my curtains? God I wish you bet you'd never asked!

smellymelly · 06/09/2004 16:48

Got ds ready for 1st day at school, got dd up dressed and both breakfasted! Took ds to school (only 3 hours) played with dd, she did colouring and went in the garden, watched Sunset Beach, read a bitchy letter from my mum, replied to bitchy letter, picked up ds, went to shops to get veg, stuff for ds's school breaks, and ice-creams for us all! Did lunch, took call from AA inspector re new car, agreed to buy new car (need 6 seats now!), did 2 loads of washing, rescued 5 (!)stripey and hairy caterpillars from ds and dd...

tammybear · 06/09/2004 16:51

just went into town to sort out my holiday photos, although dd started crying in Boots. then Ive been sorting out dinner, and talking to my mum about her first day back at work.

Hulababy · 06/09/2004 16:52

First day back at work after the 7 weeks summer holidays. Was an INSET day so not too bad, except the head decided to have the hours 8am until 2pm, instead of our normal times, so now shattered! Have INSET tomorrow as well - can't you tell we are a school in special measures - all this training!!!! Had to listen to lots of talking today. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to do some actual teaching stuff - you know, planning, etc.

Monday's aren't my normal work day so actually getting paid extra for today. No childcare either so my parents took day off (their choice) and took DD out for the day in the Derbyshire Dales. She is back now - tired and filthy, bless her. My parents looked even more tired. LOL

I've just knocked a quick pasta bake together so even tea is sorted too.

No school this morning, so I went in and did some preparation (I am a nursery auxiliary) - peace and quiet. Rode my bike up to my neighbours house to feed their hens and ducks. Ducks AWOL. Cycled home, took kids to school. Chased greedy horses out of school playground (they prefer the grass in there). Told off the boy who left the gate open. Came home, did some housework then read a book (would have been on MN but no electricity ). Had a cup of tea with a neighbour who popped in. Dh and I helped to take down a marquee over at the craft shop, then had another cup of tea and discussed the welcome home party for a couple who have just got married and are back tomorrow. Another neighbour dropped in at home for a chat. Had a gorgeous casserole dh made for tea. Electricity came on so now I am on mumsnet- yipee!! Now I must go and finish the wedding present (embroidered cushion - not a hope of finishing it before tomorrow. ).
