Have been discussing names for the baby with DH, we both like Eden for a boy, so we are sorted on that one, but DH like Leeanna and I like Ellie for a girl. We can't decide on the girl name.. help

You must over rule!

LongDistanceClara · 24/05/2007 00:38

Leeanna spelt like that is not my favourite name.

DSMEZ · 24/05/2007 00:39

Eden sounds very bodice ripper to me.

sparklygothkat · 24/05/2007 00:39

i am lol!! he has overruled me as I wanted to find out the sex, he doesn't and he knows I can't keep a secret so I can't now, so I will overrule the name

I will admit that Liana looks lovely, but its still prononced the same way as Leeanna isn't it??

Seren for a girl, Cameron for a boy?

hotchocscot · 24/05/2007 00:49

for girls we liked caitlin, sophie/sophia, jessica.
boys, daniel, malachi (ma-la-ki not ma-la-key), ronan, liam, connor, callum, alex. although ds didn't end up as any of them!
i know 2 edens, both girls, sorry!

DSMEZ · 24/05/2007 00:49

Please don't choose Leeanna--though Liana does look better. Think of Leeanne Rhymes that American country singer. Just say no!

nappyaddict · 24/05/2007 00:51

i thought leanna was pronounced lee - anna

liana is pronounced lee - ar - nah

sparklygothkat · 24/05/2007 00:54

Too close to Lana and Alana then Oh well back to the drawing board

did anyone else have a definite list then realise that after the wee one was born, none of the names seemed right and ended up with something totally different from planned? we did!

Ellbell · 24/05/2007 01:13

Ellen is a nice alternative to Ellie (though I am biased ). And you can shorten it to Ellie if you like. (I call mine Elsie, though!)

Ellbell · 24/05/2007 01:17

Elise? Eliza? Elodie (unusual, but I kinda like it)?

Must go to bed... hope you find something.

PeppermintStick · 24/05/2007 06:57

Two of our three names we had when DS was born suited him. It's a good job we weren't set on the third because we tried it out on him and started laughing! He definitely did not look like a Xavier!

McDreamy · 24/05/2007 06:59

I think we are going to go with Evie for a girl and Aiden for a boy but I too need to conceive!!!!

nappyaddict · 24/05/2007 09:38

elsie is sweet.

are lana and alana sisters?

i would say leanna sounds more like alana than liana to be honest. leonie is a good alternative.

hotchocscot · 24/05/2007 16:29

I know a katie who is called kitty by her family, it really suits her (4 and cute as a button).
Boys Alfie and Finn are cool too.
I was set on Bailey for while when pregnant (ack!), till I heard someone shouting same for their overweight doberman in the park. Nothing like that to put you off.

Twinmummyx2 · 24/05/2007 17:16

I always had major probs naming mine and over here we only get something like 2 weeks to register!

DP wanted the name Declan for DS1..but i hated it...

got pregnant again..with a boy...and loved the name Declan and to this day IMO it's the best name ever!...lol

If i were to have babies now it would be

Sienna or Eliza for a girl
don't know for a boy!!!!

I'm terrible at final decisions..

nappyaddict · 24/05/2007 21:26

sienna and finn are nice.

nappyaddict · 26/05/2007 12:54

lizzy or bessie?

nappyaddict · 26/05/2007 12:55

dotty?

my friends niece is emma dorothy - nicknamed emma dot or dotty. i think its really sweet.

Stargazing · 26/05/2007 17:19

sorry to ambush but we are stuck with boys names - all sorted for a girl but for boys we are having issues between: Noah (possibly too common)
Finn (ditto, and maybe sounds a bit daft with dd's name) Seamus (lovely name but nasty meaning and possibly reminiscent of drunk man at pub)
Tariq (I really like this, DH not 100%)
Heath (lovely name but I had a horrible boss by this name, so puts me off a bit)
Pele (we both really like this but worried it sounds pretentious)

What do you lot reckon? Go on, I won't be offended!

Rusty · 26/05/2007 17:30

I also like Eden for a boy - though it was very unusual when my BIL's stepbrother was called it - he's 27 now. The only other Eden I know is also a boy - DD's boyfriend & he's 18. So maybe it was a boy's name first & now people are starting to give it to girls too?

princessmel · 26/05/2007 17:45

I know an Eden and she is a girl. I've never heard it used for a boy but I suppose it could.
I love Leo and Jude for a boy.
Loads for a girl. Freya and Tahlulla/Talulla(sp) for next maybe baby.
