Thinking of applying for a job in saltley, B'ham. does anyone know what its like? And suggest areas within 10miles or so that would be nice to live in. The job is in a school in saltley, don't want to live there or too close by! Thanks

Sutton schols have same hols as all schools in brum but yep solihull is different education authority.

tiredemma · 03/04/2007 15:57

Sutton still come under bham city council i think ( as much as they hate it)

IntergalEGGticWalrus · 03/04/2007 15:58

if pjsmum has girls, they could go to Camp Hill, eh flatmouse?

flatmouse · 03/04/2007 15:58

Sorry IGW didn't see you'd already mentioned Hall Green.

From Saltley though you could go towards Nuneaton, Tamworth - handy for snow dome...

NuttyMuffins · 03/04/2007 15:58

Do they hate it ?? I didn't know that, probably true though, alot of them are snobby.

HoraceWimp · 03/04/2007 15:59

I wouldnt live in nuneaton or tamworth if you paid me

OrvilleRedenbacher · 03/04/2007 15:59

i nver minded btu locals did

NuttyMuffins · 03/04/2007 15:59

I think parts of Tamworth are ok but there are lots of dodgy parts too.

flatmouse · 03/04/2007 15:59

LOL thought that when i saw your earlier posting about Kings Heath. I was dragged up in Moseley/Kings Heath area too - many a New Years eve drifting from pub to pub along the alcester rd....

NuttyMuffins · 03/04/2007 16:00

I don't mind but then i'm dead common

Nip · 03/04/2007 16:01

Have any of you been to Moseley/Kings Heath recently for a night out? It's fab, they have done it up and there are loads of really great places to go.

IntergalEGGticWalrus · 03/04/2007 16:01

The Red Lion in Vicarage Rd was my boozer of choice. In there straight from school some days

I wasn't allowed in the Hare and Hounds

tiredemma · 03/04/2007 16:01

oh yes, most peeps from sutton hate it being identified as Birmingham.

I used to work with a woman who would become incandesant with rage everytime someone called her a brummie or asked her which area of brum she lived in.

HoraceWimp · 03/04/2007 16:02

lets hope they dont move down south then tiredemma, as I dont even come from birmingham but get reffered to as the 'brummie', her from birmingham'and shes from the midlands what do you expect?'

jampot · 03/04/2007 16:02

right I am the authorityt on good areas in Brum

so pjsmum - tell us a little about yourself and what you like and we'll givce you some areas to try.

Nip · 03/04/2007 16:03

i hate been called a brummie too! (I dont even have a brummie accent)

jampot · 03/04/2007 16:03

Crikey intergalactic we used to frequent the Red Lion on Vicarage Road too - or at least until I was about 16

IntergalEGGticWalrus · 03/04/2007 16:03

I live down south, and I get the piss ripped out of me something rotten

They do that annoying "yam from Buuuuuurminguuum" in a shite Balck Country accent

HoraceWimp · 03/04/2007 16:03

where are you from nip?

Nip · 03/04/2007 16:04

Near Solihull

flatmouse · 03/04/2007 16:05

IGW - why weren't you allowed in Hare & Hounds? I worked there a few hols once i was old enough (and drank there for 2 years before i was old enough )

Hare & Hounds, Station, Village Inn (when first opened) and Prince of Wales.

jampot · 03/04/2007 16:05

im in solihull grew up in Hall Green

its changed a lot

IntergalEGGticWalrus · 03/04/2007 16:05

I went in e red lion not long ago. they have done it up and it's shite

HoraceWimp · 03/04/2007 16:06

solihull is nice

nutty tamowrth is awful. My aunt lives thwere and they are all inbred. the town smells and is full of rubbish and its just a fragmented community. i hate it, awful awful place

IntergalEGGticWalrus · 03/04/2007 16:07

Oh, i used to go in there, but without telling my mum, who thought it was rough.

I lived on haunch lane for a bit, and there were some rough pubs up there (likethe valley and the warstock)

used to drink in stirchley a lot too
