half the ones my MIL imposes on my children. But that may not be the books...

twentypence · 23/03/2007 19:52

Charlie and Lola, "I will not never" get another one out of the library.

McCadburysDreamyegg · 23/03/2007 19:52

I love alfie and annie rose

wanderingstar · 23/03/2007 20:08

anything where the dialogue is carried along in speech bubbles; the style looks fun for a toddler, but they're a pain to read.

CorrieDale · 23/03/2007 20:09

Yet another vote for Thomas and Mr Men. And my mil has terrible taste in very old books, full of morals and terrible consequences - Mrs Downy Duckling, anyone? (To be fair, she also bought DS some lovely Busy Baby books which he adores and I quite like too.)

Blandmum · 23/03/2007 20:09

'Fucking Thomas the wanking tank engine'

LOLOLOL

I must have missed that one.

Did he have it away with Annie and Clarabelle? Norty threesome in the engine shed. Thomas is very useful engine and is hung like a bear.

Beatrix Potter. DD1 was given a beautiful boxed set of her books when she was born.... they keep "disappearing".

Thomas the Tank Engine.

Rainbow Fairies etc (each book seems to have the exact same plot).

We're going on a Bear Hunt.

MorocconOil · 23/03/2007 20:10

It has to be Thomas the Tank Engine. They are soooooooo boring but my DC( even my DD) just love them.

Thomas - hand's down

ghosty · 23/03/2007 20:13

Can someone explain why they don't like Beatrix Potter?

hana · 23/03/2007 20:14

I will add "Little Miss' books to this list!

McCadburysDreamyegg · 23/03/2007 20:15

I just don't like the stories, I think they are dull and not particularily well written. DC's really dislike them - says it all for me.

oh sober much better answer than me

cybele · 23/03/2007 20:16

DH just got DS a Thomas story tape. WHY?? DS loves it and has taken up repeating things over and over in a loud ringo starr-esque monotone. "Hurryup hurryup hurryup" etc. It will be being lost down the back of the sofa in the not too distant future I fear.

FrannyandZooey · 23/03/2007 20:18

Thomas the wanking tanking wank wanketty wank engine

(just thought I would run with the theme there )

I had a set as a child and even then they bored me rigid

and ruddy NODDY

ghosty · 23/03/2007 20:18

Yes, but they are old ... written for their era ...
So, although I don't particularly like them I won't hate them ... IYSWIM?

I do hate Thomas though .... boring as batshit.

FrannyandZooey · 23/03/2007 20:18

Dior how can you not like Winnie the Pooh? Do you mean some crappy edited version, not the proper really truly Winnie the Pooh?
