chirpygirl · 23/03/2007 20:23

Dear Zoo, just because the kid is so spoilt! He writes to a zoo and they send him numerous live animals until he is satisfied!

Have read this 20 times today to DD, so might be biased though.

TwinklemEGGan · 23/03/2007 20:23

Oh no - I've been really looking forward to reading Thomas the Tank Engine, Winnie the Pooh, Noddy, etc. with my DS. Am I setting myself up for a big disappointment then?

My vote goes for Harry Potter btw.

CODalmighty · 23/03/2007 20:24

i liek noddy a lot
love clockwork mouse and tubby bear as the anrachists

MorocconOil · 23/03/2007 20:24

Beatrix Potter illustrations are beautiful and the language used is classical. English literature for very small children.

TwinklemEGGan · 23/03/2007 20:24

Oh and That's Not My... - they drive me potty.

CODalmighty · 23/03/2007 20:24

yes btu they arent books are they
more liek a selection of sentences!

Ellbell · 23/03/2007 20:26

Rainbow Fairies. Completely agree that they all have the same plot. And there are ninety bloody three million of them!

Dd reads them to herself now, which is OK... as long as I don't have to!

TwinklemEGGan · 23/03/2007 20:27

Which ones Cod?

CODalmighty · 23/03/2007 20:28

"thast not my nob"

or whatever

McCadburysDreamyegg · 23/03/2007 20:29

They're not my boobs - the nipples are too high

chirpygirl · 23/03/2007 20:31

They're not my boobs, the stretch marks are too small

Blandmum · 23/03/2007 20:33

Those aren't my children.

They are too clean.

lol - yep I'd agree with you. In fact most supposedly fab baby books are pretty cr*p IMO.

Thomas/Noddy/Rainbow Fairies (the sheer volume of them, the same plot in each one, the addictive nature arrgghhh)

McCadburysDreamyegg · 23/03/2007 20:36

I've just read The Twits and The Magic Finger to my 4 year old DD -s he loved them!!

brimfull · 23/03/2007 20:37

and those bloody books that have noise buttons...love giving those as presents ...mwahahaha!

raspberryberet · 23/03/2007 20:37

I want to like Beatrix Potter but it's so bloody boring, moralistic and up its own arse. I also think it's badly written.

As is anything Enid Blyton ... Faraway Tree, Amelia Jane - all the same story told again and again and again. Badly written, badly characterised.

Dd is a sucker for The Magic Kitten - which gets "lost" very frequently.

Give me Roald Dahl any day. The kids love him and so do I.

Boysboysboys · 23/03/2007 20:41

Thomas the Tank Engine is a very good way of explaining the corporate system to your DC. Hard work and not compaining is the aim, usefulness before cleanliness, happiness and fun. You must work hard and do not rebel. Honeslty, these are such important things to teach your children
