I hate all those stupid internet sites where people post to each other and pretend to be friends

(not)

bundle · 04/07/2004 16:07

I have embraced predictive texting to the extent that when dh got a message the other day saying everything was home I quipped that they'd probably meant good

CountessDracula · 04/07/2004 16:08

Microsoft Instant Messaging - I hate that when you are in the middle of a conversation (and an exciting one at that) and the other person buggers off with feeble excuse

codswallop · 04/07/2004 16:08

kids eh?

sooz31 · 04/07/2004 16:15

My dad texted me the other week and it really freaked me out!

sooz31 · 04/07/2004 16:16

oh, and we have dvd, surround sound, video, radio, cd player and tv all on one remote control... it's a bloody nightmare.

codswallop · 04/07/2004 16:16

LOL at littlemissbossy's mum!

motherinferior · 04/07/2004 16:25

I hate driving, very rarely use my mobile (don't know the number, sorry) and CAN'T TEXT.

This is so shaming.

And I don't even know what predictive text is.

Going to post on embarrassing moments now

tamum · 04/07/2004 16:43

Oh mwah mwah MI, me too. Only have the mobile for emergencies or holidays. Also hate driving and haven't for about 2 years now.

And no sponge, it is not like learning to swim- if I fall into a canal I need to be able to swim to get myself out. If I need to get from A to B in an emergency I can use a taxi (or public transport).

Bog off coddy Except I haven't grasped MP3s either. Do have a PDA and digital camera that I can manage perfectly well though, and am much more computer-literate than DH for example. And he can't work the DVD or cable (but he can drive).

Hulababy · 04/07/2004 16:47

With predictive texting - who made up the order in which the predicted words come up? For example, why when you try and text the word MUM does it first of all come up with NUN??? Surely the word mum is way more popular than texting nun???

LOL dinosaur - quite possibly true!

bran · 04/07/2004 17:01

I like technology, although I avoid the first wave of any new gadget, it's always more clunky and complicated than it needs to be.

I do know my mobile phone number (after only 2 years), and I will drive anywhere because if you learn to drive in Dublin nothing can scare you.

DH asks me to set the video - he says it's because I like doing it, but I know it's because he doesn't know how.

Linnet · 04/07/2004 17:31

I can't work the DVD player, have no clue about it.

Can't work dh's ps2 either so if dd1 wants to play a game when he's not here it's a nightmare.

Also can't drive but I'm on maternity leave just now and plan to learn while I'm off work. Although dh doesn't drive either so we don't have a car and if I did learn we'd probably never be able to afford a car anyway, but still will try to learn.

Blackduck · 04/07/2004 17:36

dinosaur I thought I'd learn to drive whilst on maternity leave (well pass the bl**dy test actually as I had learnt to drive two years before...) - but it never happened! Probably a good thing I was too knackered to concentrate on anything let alone a road and moving traffic!!

roisin · 04/07/2004 17:40

I can't believe it! After posting on this thread earlier, I then went into town to the dentist and a 'few bits and pieces' ... only I couldn't buy the few bits and pieces, because I didn't have any cash, and I couldn't get any out of the machine, because I COULDN'T REMEMBER MY PIN I have a reminder stored on my mobile, but I'd left my mobile at home.

I am cracking up.

codswallop · 04/07/2004 19:02

he he he

motherinferior · 04/07/2004 19:26

Dino, I passed test 5 days before dd2 arrived. Mind you, that was after 5 goes, 4 instructors, and 17 years since first setting bum to seat.

My parents won't use cash points. I don't really know how to use my mobile phone. I can't even text. I am ashamed!
