I'd def try up to 40, dont know after that, i'll ahve to wait till I get there!

Grommit · 24/06/2004 20:57

Had ds at 37 - feel too old to even think of any more - think 37 even was a bit past it...

Angeliz · 24/06/2004 20:57

I don't really know. I'm on my second now at 30 but dp is 48! Don't know when i'll stop

How about you twiglett?

GeorginaA · 24/06/2004 20:58

I think for me personally, up to 35, which seems young, but early menopause runs in my family, so I'd be concerned about possible birth defects the closer it got to menopause.

codswallop · 24/06/2004 21:02

38

Truthfully, this is it for me... I am pregnant with my 2nd one and I am 33. I realise that I am considered young but I dont think I would want to risk any future births the older I get. Just my opinion and not a judgement on others.

codswallop · 24/06/2004 21:04

( collision says quickly!)

xoz · 24/06/2004 21:05

don't know, am now almost 33 and trying for #3 presently, thinking about going to #4 after that... I guess I keep thinking that 35 would be good, but if getting pg takes too long then I might not fit 2 more in before that... don't think I'd go much past 35 though... The idea of being 55 with a 15 year old really doesn't appeal to me at all!!!!

collision · 24/06/2004 21:05

Ooh, Sobernow, dont want to hijack the thread but can I talk to you about pre eclampsia? I had PE with ds and am a little freaked out 2nd time round. Shall I start a new thread?

I'm done, definitely. Had my first at 30 and second (and last) at 37. I didn't want to leave it any later since a) we didn't know if I could get pregnant again and we definitely wanted one so there was no point in waiting and b) I decided I could prob cope with a 3yo at 40 but didn't want to be dealing with one any younger at 40+ (absolutely not a judgement on anyone who does or wants to, just that I'm knackered already at 37 and can't imagine I'll get more sprightly)

Janh · 24/06/2004 21:10

I was 41 last time (4 days short of 42, in fact, when he was born) - had already decided 4 was my lot, not sure if I would have gone on later otherwise. Feel much MUCH older now but at 43/44/45, looking back, I could've...

Look at Patricia Hodge - 45 with first, 48 (?) with second?

Benjaminsmummy · 24/06/2004 21:11

Not sure really as am 28 and DS is 7 months. Would like to have some more I think.

My MIL had children at 28, 32 and 43 (but 44 two days later). Youngest is now 13 and she's 57 and seems to have a lot more energy than DH and I have. She's definitely an inspiration to me about being an older mum.

NomDePlume · 24/06/2004 21:12

Hmmmmmmm. I think 35, but that's because we'd have to take DH's age into account, he'll be almost 50 when I'm 35, so realistically I think we'll be done with newborns by the time I'm 30 (just under 8 years time).

tamum · 24/06/2004 21:12

twiglett, if it's any help, I had my two at 33 and 37, so similar to you. I'm 43 now, it's definitely too late (more because of dh's age than anything else, but partly mine) and I would have loved a third . Go for it if that's what you want (though you might want a few months' breather maybe )

collision · 24/06/2004 21:13

Go Twiglett!! How you can be broody with a 7 week old, I do not know, but go for it!! Or wait a while and see if the feeling wears off!

Angeliz · 24/06/2004 21:13

sorry to hear that Merlin

Mog · 24/06/2004 21:13

I had dd at 37, ds at 39 and am expecting number three which will be born when I'm 41. Can't say I feel anymore knackered than younger mums I know and I've fallen pregnant within a month each time. I think we'll probably stop now though as it's not the age I am now but the ages they'll be when we want to retire

Angeliz · 24/06/2004 21:14

tamum how old is your DH??

I had my 2 beautiful ds's at age 40 and 42.

Any advance on 42?
