Happy New Year Phalanx and, indeed, all of Mumsnet!!

We've had the wedding. We've had Christmas. Or, as I refer to it: THE MOST AMAZING CHRISTMAS EVER.

Now it's onward one day at a time.

There will be planning of the wake so it's going to be THE MOST AMAZING PARTY THREAD EVER.

I think sax, cello & guitar would be great.

Just not the fucking recorder. At my school one of the teachers near my office does a whole hour of torture, 25 7 yr olds tooting away. With the door open. I have often slammed my door shut (she thinks it's funny) but my boss apparently went and formally and pompously requested that the classroom door be shut. Game over, sadly, we had quite a thing going.

Then in the afternoon the music school lot arrive. Violins and pianos being tortured daily. I get on well with the teachers (2 had the misfortune to try and teach my boys) and sympathise, but holy fuck, it's annoying.

haha Fiderer - we are a musical instrument playing family ( not me I hasten to add, I am the vocalist Hmm ) but I so remember my two girls at home - piano - not bad actaully, they got their grades , but flute - oh dear...

I think we should have the party in a huge barn, and do a barn dance evening, funniest thing I have ever tried. My dd and I went completely wrong, then couldn't do the next bit for laughing ! 😀

Another suggestion for music playlist . Can't get You Tube to link either .Sorry
Jon Denver " Take me home country roads to West Viirginia ". A song for when we are all banjaxed from dancing . We could even link arms and sway a bit .Take high heels 👠 off first though.

Jon Denver " Poems, Prayers and Promises ". Barn hire would be ideal because we can totter outside and sit around a campfire as night falls clutching our cocoa and duvet . No pillow needed .Head can rest on person next to you . Preferably lap.

My contribution to organising if I may . Print out the lyrics to each music choice on waterproof paper in case of gin spiils. Old gimmers like me know the music of some but not all the words . Similar for younger team Phalanx.
Just thought of another good dance one Bruce Springsteen " Born in the USA.".
Jeeze I have rambled on and on . Hope today is comfortable one Zombie .

NO RECORDERS Am sure Z would agree, will thump her (lovingly) if not.

The teacher I mentioned told me she'd have one ear on the recorder tooters & one ear on my door slamming shut. Apparently I once managed 12 minutes.
