Happy New Year Phalanx and, indeed, all of Mumsnet!!

We've had the wedding. We've had Christmas. Or, as I refer to it: THE MOST AMAZING CHRISTMAS EVER.

Now it's onward one day at a time.

There will be planning of the wake so it's going to be THE MOST AMAZING PARTY THREAD EVER.

If you've not joined us yet, please do so now.

Dammit, must try harder. Can't offer wine though, I've drunk that and going to bed now.

Sausages are still available though - there's only so much venison and chilli two people can eat (deliberately not mentioning the blood, wine and chocolate one which DS (6) described as "nice but why did you say it had blood in it, nobody eats blood, that would be weird. He was swiftly disillusioned but didn't seem too bothered!).

I can bring a variety of dainty triangle sandwiches. And enough booze to sink several ships!

Another ship (lurker) uncloaking off the starboard bow zombie. As my dc are now fiercely veggie or vegan we don't have meat in the fridge - I can offer a nice selection of veggie sausage, the hot dog ones are particularly good - hotdogs, fried onions, ketchup and mustard anyone? I could do mini ones if you think the big ones are a bit uncouth!

And my contribution to the music is the sing along classical Absolutely Everybody

And also to confess I don't actually know what a phalanx is. In my mind, it's some unnatural hybrid of a phallus and a larynx. I refuse to look it up because then I might have to give up my mental picture.

Don't worry Galen, a phalanx is a protective thing. Like Batfink and his wings being like a shield of steel, except we and our shields are here to surround Zombie rather than ourselves.

Seems to be loads of food and someone has 40,000 napkins so I can abandon the list.

Crystal I reckon. And as one of the first threads I read on here was about a tablecloth, in MN style we'll need lots. Someone creative can do the decorating and I'll make martinis.

Quite fancy myself as a cocktail maker - I could buy a book and practise lots. Anyone want to be a taster guinea pig?

Just listened to that Fiderer -I love a bit of ukelele :) ooh, nice material Sloany - saves me having to find mine, as I also have a gazillion stash of tablecloths- I have turned into my dear MIL - she never chucked anything out that could be salvaged!

Happy new year Zombie. May I attend too please? I can bring homemade apple strudel(ish), assorted dubious alcohol from the cupboard under the sink, including an unopened bottle of Archers, and a wicked air guitar.

Party clothes and venue? In wardrobe at the moment sorting tutus? Venue Banqueting suite. Buck house!! Nothing but the best for zombie and the phalanx 🤑
