Sounds knackering , Zombie, and Happy New Year. Wifi has been down till now hence belated.

Organisation, once in place, will be great.

I've always wanted to arrange my wake.

Are you setting a time limit in speeches? Can anyone make one?
Are there set jokes you want remembered?

At MIL's the laughter began in the service, with the vicar cracking one that had the congregation in stitches, he'd known her and imitated her so well. The wake afterwards was full of people doing lovely, kindly imitations that got more and more raucous as the booze flowed.

DH has made it clear to me that he wants to follow my godfather' s example, loads of different sorts of whisky. We had loads of mulled wine at BIL's and DM's. But the last two were in the winter in the north,..

Going to a dear friend's next week. He's out of pain after many years. Great for him.

Say if you want inspiration for decorations...themes for facinators...

OrlandaFuriosa · 04/01/2017 21:26

Fascinators...boogying with a bizarre fascinator so much more fun... black widow spiders? Weeping willows? Peacocks? Red roses? Stars?

bookbook · 04/01/2017 21:28

Ah, but veg are much better . The nearest I may get to a veg cocktail is a slice of lemon methinks :)
dried apricots for me , and figs... I ^love* figs .
Fascinators Orlanda ? - the nearest I have to one of those is my hat from DD's wedding, and a rather disreputable straw hat I garden in... I could maybe make a Carmen Miranda fruit hat going with the theme Grin

OhTheRoses · 04/01/2017 21:30

Fresh dates might help and are yum.

I thought we were partying real time. Quite fancy drinks on a terrace with heaters and being brought ramekin sized cottage pies to savour.

bookbook · 04/01/2017 21:35

I like the medjool dates very, very much , and now you have reminded me I would really like to eat some...

MrSlant · 04/01/2017 22:46

If you are shopping for happy tummy moments may I recommend the above mentioned celery, the poster had a good point (although 'ribbed for pleasure' - really? Shock) also pears are awesome for soluble fibre and those little bottles of probiotic stuff, umm, yakult? This appears to be a satisfactory addition to my new years, fed up of stupid MST tummy, routine. I am much happier in the evenings at the moment even if I dare eat after about 6pm.

The cleaner/helper is brilliant, I have 9 hours help a week and couldn't do without it, I hope you can get a good working relationship with the person coming on Friday. It makes a huge difference to life.

tapdancingmum · 04/01/2017 23:19

Delurking whilst I have enough internet to do so. Bloody BT (but that's another story). I can't help with the alcohol as I don't drink (don't like the taste) but I make a mean cup of tea so can I be in charge of supplying that when all the raucousness has died down and we need a bit of quiet before it all starts again Brew

Fiderer · 05/01/2017 02:24

tap Thank feck someone will be sober. Am most likely to be off my head (but not on veg - bleh) and dancing wildly and emoting speechified.

Would like to think I'd be all elegant Grace Kelly High Society but the above is more predictable.

And I've spent the last 5 hours watching MASH. Good thing I don't go back to work till Monday.

BathshebaDarkstone · 05/01/2017 05:17

Morning! No small person in our bed and no 3.30 wake up! Xmas GrinBrew

marriednotdead · 05/01/2017 06:12

Morning to the ever growing Phalanx and of course our beloved Zombie.
(Not sure I can say 'good' as I've been woken at this ungodly hour by the ongoing pain in my shoulder... )

Anyway, you're a far more organised woman than I'll ever be, hence the much deserved 'head of phalanx' title to add to your other accolades.
Really glad that your pain is largely under control and that help is slotting into place.
Very much enjoying the wake preparations and music choices although I've not had a chance to listen to them all

Can't keep up with everyone's goings on but I'm responding in my head as I read so hope you get the psychic messages.
I see there is another cute minifatty- how did you manage multiples?!

Having the most exciting week- baked a wedding cake yesterday for lovely exmil who was teary when I delivered it. DS will be giving her away Smile

The only reason I won't be there is because I fly to Reykjavik in the morning for our bucket list trip that my amazing sis booked to celebrate my 50th. Hoping to spot whales and of course the Northern Lights. Have a very unweddingy hat- DS says it makes me look like a dodgy pirate Grin

Enjoy the bananas. Every time we buy them one gets eaten then the others forgotten about. Mind you, gives me a great excuse to then turn the not quite festering ones into muffins.
Today was mostly great. Baby only woke three times last night which meant I felt more human. 3 yr old had fun on the slip and slide and only had one meltdown when she couldn't watch more bloody pepper pig. I'm off to sleep soon so hope the good vibes from NZ wing their way to you for your day ahead.

Fiderer · 05/01/2017 11:19

ikl That cocktail looks good.

IamtheZombie · 05/01/2017 11:48

I'm up, showered and dressed. I'll be leaving in 5 minutes for today's appointments and errands.

I had another fair night's sleep. Best of all, I didn't need to dash for the Oramorph when I got up. I am going to take a dose now as I really can't afford to be hit by any pain while out and about.

Glad you had a fairly decent night. Can you take oramorph with you or is it a chilled liquid med?

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 05/01/2017 12:40

I'm pleased you had a fair nights sleep.

You've done more than me today and I've no excuse! I must move myself and get some stuff done before it's time to pick up from school. I had planned on taking some of the Christmas Dec's down, but meh...they can stay there until tomorrow. I'd be tempted to leave them longer but my neighbour makes a point of telling me every year (like it's the first time) about how his Grandfather died because he hadn't taken the decorations down on the 5th. Frankly, I feel it has more to do with him being a 90 year old man, up a ladder, in the middle of the night because he suddenly realised the date!...

Lovelybangers · 05/01/2017 12:49

A good night's sleep is a win!

UnbornMortificado · 05/01/2017 13:04

Good luck with everything today zombie.

Woolly hugs has made me a bit emotional. It takes a great person to still think of others when going through so much shit themselves Flowers

MrsMozart · 05/01/2017 13:08

Yay for a good night and for a good start to the day lass.

I'm on m'granny chair. The study has no heating (to keep the 'pooters cool) and my teeth are still chattering from an afternoon in there yesterday. I have moved m'butt out and taken the car-dropping-off-man to his next job, but I'm now back in pj and pretending to review the Data Protection Act and find some policies. It's either that or I'll have a wee snooze... Grin

iklboo · 05/01/2017 13:24

Glad you had a fair night and start to today Zombie. Hope you're not too tired out after all the running around you have today.

I have a touch of the lurgy but have still done the washing. It's somewhat telling that last week's laundry pile is mostly made up of 'comfies'.

Tomorrow I have my Xmas present pamper session thanks to DH. 90 mins of bliss. I might treat myself to some lunch afterwards - but since I'm back on the diet wagon it'll need to be something fairly good. The nice cafe in town does some tasty but good things (if I can avoid the salted caramel tart with clotted cream ice cream, that is).

giraffesCantReachTheirToes · 05/01/2017 13:26

Mwah

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 05/01/2017 13:53

Glad you had a better night Zombie

Mummylin
Would you link the Woolly Hug thread pls?
If anyone I'm sure the Phalanx will be interested ❤💙💚💛💜💗

Mummylin · 05/01/2017 14:01

Glad you now have it Zing. I will have to search out my crochet or knitting needles. Hope they haven't gone rusty 😀

Allalonenow · 05/01/2017 14:10

Candy's Hugs are such a lovely and wonderful idea Zombie! And the coulours are fabulous!! I must get my knitting mojo back very soon. Xmas Grin

UnbornMortificado · 05/01/2017 14:13
