don't believe them bathsheba - it's purple soil

Am no fan of fruit tea either. Insipid stuff.

But it's snowing so wetly (madey up word) here that I can't face muffling up and trudging to the shop for milk.

As music, food, drink, & table decoration seem to be sorted, we now need lighting. Think we need a soft corner & a dazzling bit for contrast and ostentatious dancing.

Ooh and sparklers.

BathshebaDarkstone · 03/01/2017 07:41

Gin I love its earthiness, although sweet and soft sounds lovely too! Xmas Grin

Fiderer · 03/01/2017 07:41

Ah, thanks Bath. Living in the arse end of nowhere with no internet shopping is v pretty but not v practical when one is in dire need of food & drink.

OhTheRoses · 03/01/2017 07:43

Now have tea. Dozed off just before making it earlier and have now overslept. Enjoy Maccys. There's a hard frost here and the roads will be hell due to Southern.

OhTheRoses · 03/01/2017 07:44

Oh Fid sounds nasty. Keep a bottle, well a plastic carton, in the freezer.

UnbornMortificado · 03/01/2017 07:45

Morning, there's going to be a thread a week at this rate!

May as well go the whole hog and get fireworks.

BathshebaDarkstone · 03/01/2017 07:49

You're welcome Fids Xmas Smile

Fiderer · 03/01/2017 07:59

Love fireworks - quite rare here apart from NYE from the castle on the hill.

Roses I do/did but ArseEx lets himself in when we're away Angry Came yesterday to pick FidGirl up and I told him to pick some up/replace and then he 'forgot'.

Meh, fuck him & his childish shite. Am off out later anyway in the snow as have a very dear friend coming for dinner. No beetroot Wink

Am still (acc to my children unreasonably) baffled as to how such a technologically advanced country can have no online grocery shopping Confused

bookbook · 03/01/2017 08:09

I have only done online shopping in extremis , and found it annoying, yet useful.
A lot of my food comes from popping to my allotment and digging :)
(Shame you can't lock the fridge Fiderer )
Indoor fireworks then?

MsHooliesCardigan · 03/01/2017 08:15

Fid The Castle on the Hill sounds like a Gothic novel.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 03/01/2017 08:23

BBB

How about Purple Haze?

SloanyAnne · 03/01/2017 08:43

Lidl do a red herb tea that's a bit more palatable than most. It's not as good as coffee thoughGrin
Back in work nowSad

MaterofDragons · 03/01/2017 09:53

Morning. I've never made a cocktail and I'm a stressy sweaty mess when it comes to hosting any event but I'm VERY GOOD at loading the dishwasher so I offer my services for this.

MrsMozart · 03/01/2017 10:14

G'day y'all. I was a lightweight and therefore missed out on all the beetroot stuff, which may or may not be a good thing...

Have woken up feeling my usual bleugh, but it passes so will embrace the day, quite possible from the comfort of m'granny chair whilst drinking tea (non-fruit) and eating shortbread.

Hope it's a good one and people are happy doing their thing Smile

OhTheRoses · 03/01/2017 10:28

Well I'm at work, just had a meeting and dreading switching on the computer. See you all much later.

Morning Zombie - hole you are OK and sleeping better x

bookbook · 03/01/2017 10:32

I am surrounded by a whole carpet full of lego and trains... looking after 4 yr DGS today. I am his partner in crime and grovelling on the floor :)

Fiderer · 03/01/2017 11:05

Blimey it's nearly midday and I still haven't left the house.

Spent the last few hours having long WhatsApp discussions with FidBoy1 who's still in Berlin. Supposed to be starting a work placement in Frankfurt for 5 months but as it's not paid, he needs money to live on. German education system. Don't ask

Then I went to put the heating up as it's so cold. Heating room flooded, ominous dripping sound so am waiting for heating man. Good thing - balancing out arse end of no where - heating firm installed the system, are around the corner and man will be here within the hour.

Man already been (mid-post) to assess drip, will return. Await another huge bill

At least have given up on tea ...

Mummylin · 03/01/2017 11:39

Morning phalanx and of course Zombie.
Hope you had a good night Zombie and no more discomfort in tummy.
I am waiting for a call back from my doc, I have another chest infection, so will prob just get a script.

Somerville · 03/01/2017 11:53

Just checking in to MN briefly as I had some PM's, including a link to this new thread so I could find you all quickly.
(Thank you Goingtobeawesome Flowers)

I've just caught up on the old one and then this:
Glad you had such a wonderful Christmas Zombie.
And thanks for the sweet messages to me and Lovely, all.

I don't dare listen to the wake songs right this moment but will do so at some point soon. Flowers

UnbornMortificado · 03/01/2017 12:47

Good to see you Somer Flowers

BathshebaDarkstone · 03/01/2017 13:04

Went to Sainsbury's after breakfast in McDonald's, DD bought a Texta puppy, Galt planes to make and Bongoo, one of YooHoo's friends, with her birthday and Christmas money, did food shopping, back home, just had creamy peppercorn chicken with sliced potatoes for lunch, watching Cars on DVD. Xmas Grin

MrSlant · 03/01/2017 13:10

Afternoon phalanx and Zombie

As it is the first day back at school here I, of course, have a child off school sick. (Child no. 2 in a series of 3) He is never normally ill so in a fit of never before shown motherly care am making a vat of chicken stock, so hand over your cups if you want something warming to ward off the purple drink head today.

Have serious McDonalds breakfast envy.

Fiderer · 03/01/2017 13:36

That's early to be back at school Shock We don't go back till next Monday. I think. I hope.

Boiler man has been back with tools and after a convoluted discussion in German about pumps and circulation and my repeating "Fix it, keep it cheap" several times, I think (hope) I got off lightly. I did mention that they installed the heating system and I was never sure why they installed xyz. I do know, they were ripping off the people who built the house.

Amazing the skills one picks up in Forrin Hmm

Negotiations with Berlin-stranded FidBoy1 have been temporarily settled with a €€ transfer from me. And a maternal lecture, but not too stern as I fear he's had troubles of the heart with his gf who's moved there. Made me soft-hearted and more generous with the €€.
