I've managed to get the boys to have a haircut. Haven't bought a scrap of uniform yet. And they need new shoes. And my phone needs replaced.
and there's a glut of birthdays coming up.

I have bought uniform and new shoes. No idea if the uniform fits, mind. And he doesn't like the shoes.

DS is also being a bit of a sod today. We're about to insist that he comes for a nice family walk with us. If we are all still talking to each other by the end, I'll be very surprised.

Afternoon wenches. I think it's got to that stage of the holidays when everyone wishes the DC were back at school. Even the DC, only of course they'd never admit that, because admitting to missing the routine, the challenge & the stimulation of school might look a bit keen . Being a bunch of old gimmers (with a few exceptions ) we were all largely feral as kids - playing outside all day every day saved our parents' sanity & their livers from being pickled in gin

If you have the acting skills for it, you can always tell him you're going for option 2 & feign indifference to the idea of him turning up at school looking like a tramp. Channel that mask of insouciance last used when ignoring toddler tantrums. It has the added bonus of seriously pissing them off

Some uniform bought for DS1. One thing not in stock at any of the three local uniform shops. No shoes yet, or trainers. He knows I'd be more than prepared for him to go to school in non-fitting uniform, but he seems to have got over himself for now.
