Madame ref school. I'm just off to ds4's parents Eve where I'm fully expecting to hear bad things due to these new ks2 Sats which that wanker Gove and that Nicky Morgan have messed with. Stupid fucking grammar that no-one knows. Etc etc. I'm very fucking cross as I know how it pigeon holes them in secondary even if they do take CATs etc too.

Ds1 had a bit of trouble with maths initially and wasn't until later that it clicked for him. He got an A at A level for Maths and Further Maths (outright boast) last year, so it's fair to say that you shouldn't worry too much. Encourage at home, try and make it fun, let them choose books they enjoy. He's 6. It horrifies me how serious it all us with assessment now. Makes me very very cross.

Had a debacle as someone had unplugged landline so we hadn't seen that ds2's appt had been postponed until yesterday. So frac clinic next week now. Bruises now mostly light brown/green #bruisewatch.

When my DD was 6 her teacher told me that she "had no real understanding of the importance of mathematics in the curriculum." I moved her to a different school.

Our secondary takes no notice of yr 6 sats. They do their own on-line assessments on the day the year 6's visit. Just about says it all!!
