FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 11/12/2006 21:34

Yes... we need the full facts before we can proceed! lol

Dottydotthehalls · 11/12/2006 21:38

Yes, we need to know all the ins and outs before giving any more advice! Especially the touring the world bit..!

6beetrootsAmilking · 11/12/2006 21:39

i would be working on a show. not sure where it tours - world tour!

OP posts:
scatterbrain · 11/12/2006 21:41

Can it be done ?

Can dh look after the dcs when you are away ?

Would you enjoy the job ??

If so - GO FOR IT !!! Opportunities don't come up like that every day - and it's not that long away - so if it can be done, and you want to do it - Go For It !!

6beetrootsAmilking · 11/12/2006 21:43

dh is away alot Jan feb and March - when I would be in London. So I would have to get my mum to help then. Once he i back it would be fine - midlands are commutable so from mid march to mid june it is fine - then tour starts around end June - kids are off from 9th July so could come with me.

Job is very exciting - I would love to do it

OP posts:
FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 11/12/2006 21:48

Do it!!!!!!!!! Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And let me know where you are playing in London, and when, as I would love to come and see you.

lol

scatterbrain · 11/12/2006 21:50

Definietly then - rope your mum in and Bob's your uncle !!!!

YES ...... Yes..........Yes !!!!!!

6beetrootsAmilking · 11/12/2006 21:51

it is only reheasring in London, opens in the Midlands
It sounds so exciting and such an amazing opportunity but my kids and dh!!! They are used to having me around and they would have my mum, my dad and step mum and random people looking after them

OP posts:
marymillington · 11/12/2006 21:53

they could come with you?

wow, that could be so much fun for them too.....couldn't it?

6beetrootsAmilking · 11/12/2006 21:54

yes - not for all of it but some

OP posts:
scatterbrain · 11/12/2006 21:54

Not for long though !!!! It will be fun for them to have a change and fab for you to have this challenge !! You won't even be away for that long will you ??

How old are your children ?

6beetrootsAmilking · 11/12/2006 21:54

13,11,9,7

OP posts:
Blu · 11/12/2006 21:55

That sort of adds up to 11 months...eek, it is a lot, isn't it?

How do you mean 'commutable' - you would be home at weekends? or in the week?

What (or who) would feel it most, and what would be unimportant?

COULD you take the kids with you in the summer? That would be pretty fab! SAve you the cost of a hol, too...

Heathcliffscathy · 11/12/2006 21:55

that's 11 months away.

horrible dilemma

dh at home though? then go for it!

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 11/12/2006 21:56

Ooh but maybe I could come to the rehearsals and sit really quietly in the corner and just watch and say nothing

6beetrootsAmilking · 11/12/2006 21:57

blu - i am sure you know the show!!

While in the midlands I think I would only be needed 3/4 days per week. London would be full time.

Away is unknown as I don't know the tour detaisl yet but am sure kids could come for some of it

OP posts:
scatterbrain · 11/12/2006 21:59

Have you asked them what they think ?

I would have thought they woukld be cool with it - you could speak to them every day and they would be with family rather than random people - so would have stability, and you would be home on and off and they could be wth you in hols - I'd ask them what they think - spec the older ones are old enough to have an opinion - tell them you really want to do it and see what they say !

6beetrootsAmilking · 11/12/2006 22:04

scatterbrain - that is a good idea. I know number 2 would find it difficult.

OP posts:
scatterbrain · 11/12/2006 22:13

You could maybe get round it with lots of phone calls, maybe video-conference with them, lots of specail time when you are home etc. - well you can only ask really !!

Good Luck !

crunchie · 11/12/2006 22:18

beety Dh is away ATM in Tewksbury (so if you need an extra panto to see!) and it is hard. However it is doable with the right sort of support network in place. Your kids are old enough to help make this descison with you and I agree with scatterbrain that you should try to have a rational discussion (if poss) with them.

Personally I would say Go for it, but I totally understand the issues nad my kids are really missing dh. However school have been great and understanding, granny and auntie as well. WIth my job meaning we leave teh house at 7.45 and return at 6.45 - 7.00 it is a long day without either of us, but it is OK provided we do special stuff as often as poss. I have given them specific treats to look forward to and that has helped
