How casual (dresswise) can you be at a wedding?

Just a bit of advice really. I have a wedding on saturday and need to get new outfits for me and the kids. My daughter age 4 and son and 2 1/2. I just dont want to waste money on clothes we will hardly wear again and wondered how casual we could get away with? I was thinking for my son maybe linen trousers and a casualish shirt and for my daughter just a summer dress, or pretty top with casual type skirt. For me I dont know. Can I get away with linen trousers and a niceish top? Advice please!! Will be off in a while to see what I can find.

Also all the dressier stuff I have is black, is this still a no-go for weddings? TIA

Dinosaur, you will look lovely. As for me, I may well make the excuse to shop, you never know

'East' has some fantastic jewellery etc. Great value. Although the clothes are quite expensive some of the necklaces are cheaper than Accessorize and much more unusual.

NO beety that's you!!!

So Fio how was the wedding?? Where are the photos of you in my dress?

Fio2 · 24/05/2004 13:17

sorry havent had time until now to post! Yes the wedding was lovely, must have cost an absolute fortune though. Everyone said I looked lovely My stupid husband didnt take ANY of me with the digital camera so I will have to send you one through the post that my mum took woth her camera! All our photos were of the kids and he seemed to take loads of my Gran?! I wore the first dress with the pashmina. It looked lovely and everyone commented how nice it was! My Auntie asked my Mum how I had managed to afford it My Mum thinks you are lovely too CD

Thank goodness for you CD, everyone was dressed to the nines so it was a good job I didnt go casual afterall.

Erm just one thing.... I will have to reimburse(sp?) you for the necklace because my little girl tugged on it and it snapped I feel really guilty about this. I will try to look for one tommorrow but if I cant find a similar one I will send you some money?

Oh I am very cross, it cost me at least £1.99 from Accessorise!! Please don't bother, I couldn't really wear it anyway as I was allergic to the cheapo metal. Plus dh bought me beautiful grey pearls when dd was born so wouldn't wear that one again anyway! Glad you had such a good time!
