Morning....

OP posts:
webmum1 · 05/12/2006 14:13

Hi quad- No that is a a year!!! I dont think it is fair because we seem to be being penalised for other kids continuous abscence.
Who knows next year she may not get anything. it all depends but Bizzykidz have certainly been bizzy for her!!
I am definately going to speak to the school. I realise I cant just take her off sick for jobs as the school need to sign the licence for jobs.

littlemadam · 05/12/2006 14:17

Oh Christmas!!! Starting to panic now...need presents, tree, food, alcohol....aahhhhhh!!

We did put the artificial tree up yesterday, but still to get a real one (DH and I can't agree so have both) and get that up. Decorations are strewn all over the bedroom, though DS has "decorated" our bed.

Can anyone help me with gifts for 11 year old girls????

Hope it went well today Yummy.

QuadropheniaonIce · 05/12/2006 14:19

Its a difficult one, I don't think my school would tolerate that amount of absence in a year tbh, 20 days is quite alot with half days on top. Do speak to the school though, i have a very open relationship with my school and it tends to work best this way. What jobs has your dd done this year and how old is she? Oh and how was your face thingy?

webmum1 · 05/12/2006 14:21

Littlemadam- I have a 12 year old girl too and apart from the electronic stuff she loves books. Jaqueline Wilson older reader books.
It is so difficult once they get out of Bratz etc to think of anything.
Apart from a psp I have got her the usual Pyjamas cds etc. Boots also do some lovely Gift sets.

webmum1 · 05/12/2006 14:30

Quad- My DD has done this year Angelina, Disney Princess, Girl Talk, Woolies, Laura Ashley, thomsons mainly photographic really.

My facial was lovely. Its a non surgical face lift!! Where electric currents give your face a workout. My hubby bought for my bday last week. (Think he must be trying to tell me something!!)

totallyfloaty35 · 05/12/2006 14:32

Littlemadam,my DD is 11,she wants books, cds, the sims petz game and clothes, she always wants clothes. What we uually do is buy a pretty frame and print a certificate out with say £20 in it saying this certificate entitles ...tospend this money in the sales on whatever there heart desires. That way they have something to unwrap and i dont end up having a fit after seeing an outfit i have bought her reduced to half price less than a wk later.

littlemadam · 05/12/2006 14:57

Thanks for the tips, will get some shopping done tomorrow!

Webmum, would agree with Quad. We have an ongoing review of absence with the head, and he is generally supportive, though we've only had four full and two half days off this term. It is difficult, I think we will have a lot less next year. Hope it works out for you

julie4travel · 05/12/2006 15:10

webmum1- wow thats a lot of work for one child, superb! its nice to hear someone really busy with their agent. i hope you get the school thing sorted. i know my head would be the same any days off are classed as unauthorised absence with the school aswell. i doubt we would get away with that sort of period of time off at all!

marymay · 05/12/2006 15:40

hi perfumelady..i think if i remember we didnt get our photos until the end of january.cant wait to see them.

littlemadam. i would say the same sort of stuff as the others.my dd always wants clothes bags or hello kitty stuff.a voucher for new look always goes down well.

webmum1 · 05/12/2006 15:54

julie- She has been lucky but maybe next year things could be different. sometimes they just have that look of the moment thing!
I am just lucky that i chose the right agency for her. We did apply to quite a few but Bizzykidz seemed more friendly and approachable than some of the others. (ifywim)
Glad its quite at the mo. got all the school productions etc going on for 3 children.I get so stressed and I dont even work!!!!!!!!!!

webmum1 · 05/12/2006 15:55

I meant (IYKWIM) ha ha I am just as bad with texting!!

QuadropheniaonIce · 05/12/2006 15:59

They sound like some great jobs webmum, how old is she? It is most definately important to find the right agency.

Perf I think it is late jan for the pics!

julie4travel · 05/12/2006 16:04

webmum- you are right! my ds agent is lovely and its nice to be able to call them etc when you need to and have a friendly person at the other end of the phone. well done to your dd. bet you will be having some busy school holidays next year with shoots. hope the school will help you out a bit with the odd day or two

lindac · 05/12/2006 16:10

Hi all havent been on for a couple of days and wow so much to catch up with
lm- my dd is 11 and all she wants is a pink electric guitar and she loves claires so bits from there always go down well, its true its hard once they out the doll stage

wow you all seem to be realy busy and theres us still waitng !!
and so organised for christmas i realy must go and buy a tree .....
good luck ffor all your jobs and castings

mysonsmummy · 05/12/2006 16:45

web - i dont think the school is being out of order really. thats alot of days to be absent for. will next year be her last year at primary school - maybe thats why they've said it - nothing to do with their adsence figures. many schools wont authorise one day.

WeWishUAMerryXmasNANappyNewYr · 05/12/2006 16:47

i think its 10 maximum a year, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

QuadropheniaonIce · 05/12/2006 17:14

or unless you are sha11 who can't even get one day

marymay · 05/12/2006 17:24

yummymummy ..how did you get on today?
had a call this morning to ask if ds was any better as littlewoods wanted him for tomorrow.i said he is better but looked a bit pasty and dark around the eyes.u/a just called and said they didnt mind so he is booked for tomorrow.just hope the clothes fit since he didnt get to try them on.

mysonsmummy · 05/12/2006 17:43

what are the 10 days for - i dont understand. and the school certainly dont mention it. thanks

WeWishUAMerryXmasNANappyNewYr · 05/12/2006 17:45

the school can authorise up to 10 days absence a year, usually for holidays but i´m sure this could count aswell.

Paddlechick666 · 05/12/2006 19:54

thanks for the advice the other day ladies.

we went to scallywags today and had a very pleasant time. dd enjoyed the attention and they seemed to think she was the right sort of personality etc.

they've emailed the contacts and will let me know in a few days if they're interested in her.

thanks again
;-)

unimum · 05/12/2006 20:01

Did anyone on here do a xmas shoot for Tesco? I think I remember reading it (DLM) but I'm not sure! If it was you what was ds wearing?

perfumelady · 05/12/2006 20:16

marymay glad ds is feeling better, good news ref littlewoods, must be his cheeky little face they love!! hope you have more luck than us, we went to a littlewoods job without casting and the clothes didn't fit her, but fair play they paid her for two hours, but she was a bit effected by it as she convinced her self that she was fat!!!! she is in 8-9 size clothes and they had 7-8 to wear, managed to get her to understand that they had the wrong size clothes for her.

i have a twelve year old she is def' into clothes, music and if she had her way make up. this is a very hard age, hilary duff and lyndsey lohen films on dvd are very popular for this age group, also, freaky friday, 1st daughter, ice princess, princess diaries 1 and 2, cinderella story, she's the man, just my luck, lizzie maguire movie high school musical etc etc oh and not forgetting all the mary kate and ashley dvds all these have been tried and tested and loved by my daughter. also a jacquline wilson/ tracy beaker fan. here are a couple of great cd and dvd on line stores i have brought from both and they have a very quick delivery service. www.cdwow.com and www.play.com

webmum1 · 05/12/2006 20:31

Quad- My DD is nine on the 15th of December. She had her party on Sunday. Ilike to break it up for her to make it more exciting. Booked a Limo and took her and five friends to the Bear Factory. They loved it!!
Mysonsmummy- No she is in year 4 at school. I could understand if it was year 6 and I would definitely not take her out. After Xmas I am going to speak to the school and try to come to some arrangement. I think they caught me off guard so i didnt have time to put my case up!!
Like I said she is top set all subjects and always up to date with homework. I think beacause their offsted report pointed out the schools bad attendance record. They have been told to nip in the bud.

beacon · 05/12/2006 20:46

Hi, I'm a very infrequent poster, but wondered if anyone's LO is with Kids London? They've said yes to DS. I got the paperwork today, filled it in and posted it back. What happens next (apart from getting some castings/jobs )? Do the agency call to confirm they've got the info etc.
DS is currently with B&B and even though they're very reputable, we've had no contact with them in 12 months. I just feel like DS may have got lost in a sea of faces there and I'm hoping KL might be more productive. Any thoughts?
