nannynickers · 22/11/2006 12:20

Hi, just wondered if any of you have tips for getting to jobs in central London with LO, I mean do you take buggies or use a baby carrier or do you avoid the tubes?

I'm stumped and DD has a casting in shoreditch!

HELP!

Lolly68 · 22/11/2006 12:24

I use a buggy and just brave the tubes or trains - I sometimes find it quicker to go on public transport than driving. How old is your LO?

ellesmum · 22/11/2006 12:27

mimi - i liked ruldolph the best, looks very cute!

ellesmum · 22/11/2006 12:32

mimi - i asked kids a few weeks ago about updating elles pictures and they said they didnt want me to as they really like the ones they have got, i guess i will have to do it soon and am really worried about it, its so hard getting good pics.

does anyone know if kids london use pictures from jobs as head shots? i know bruce and brown do but not sure about kids.

mimi1uk · 22/11/2006 12:32

right thats what he will wear i am gonna try and take new photos of him in a little while so i will be racking ur brains again if thats ok,,, i have not updated kids since elle joined, thats so bad.... yay my new laptop just came x

i have always used a buggy !!

mimi1uk · 22/11/2006 12:36

being as riley is so young i know i should do it more often and he has changed quite a bit in height etc,, naughty me, i will try to do it today, elles ones are lovely well done on mackaystoo lil star she is , xx

ellesmum · 22/11/2006 12:39

mimi - good luck with the pics, ill help u choose! lucky u getting a brand new laptop!

lanismum · 22/11/2006 12:39

nannynickers, if i cant walk to a casting, ill choose a bus if possible over a tube, but for dds last job we had to go to ladbroke grove, so no avoiding the tube, just took the lightest pram she has, and made her walk up the steps, shes 20 months though, is this an option for your little one?

mythumbelinas · 22/11/2006 12:43

ellesmum, if KL think the job pics are good enough, then they will.

nanny, think Shoreditch is near Liverpool st, which is good for train, tube or bus.
I'm no good with trains, i'd rather drive or brave the tubes too .. and if not in a rush i don't mind taking the scenic route (bus) back as it's easier with a buggy .. or i get my sis to help me out. Parking is taken into account if driving.

mimi1uk · 22/11/2006 12:43

yeah it cost me on the insurance but it is very nice ill try to be more carefull with riley this time mylast one was about a 11 inch screen i have gone for a huge one this time so i will notbe tempted to use it on my lap this time and will have to sit up the table
thanks ill be emailing u over all my pictures so u can help me if i can be bothered lol

lanismum · 22/11/2006 12:45

yep thumbs, shoreditch is very close to liverpool street, and old street, (live very close) there are quite a few buses you could take, or its not a very far walk/cab ride.

nannynickers · 22/11/2006 13:05

DD is 1, I was going to use the tube but then freaked out about the stairs and escalators, do they have lifts in the stations? I believe the closest station is Aldgate East. The location has no parking so driving looks like it's out of the question.

Tinkerbel5 · 22/11/2006 13:31

nannynickers travelling on the underground was hard for me when DD was little, I had to hold her in one arm and carry the buggy under the other, all whilst steading myself on the esculater, nightmare. Your best bet is to take the bus or walk, maybe even get a black cab if you can afford it.

lanismum · 22/11/2006 13:33

i normally just push the buggy on the escalator if there is one, im not sure about lifts in aldgate station tho, sorry, hope you manage ok.

Lolly68 · 22/11/2006 14:12

There are not many stairs at Aldgate East as it is on Metro line so I'm sure some passer by will help you up the stairs with the buggy. That's what usually happens to me. Most overground stns now though have lifts.

cyan · 22/11/2006 15:35

im a dab hand at taking the tube and juggling a buggy!! we have to go in rush hour very morning and back again and my advice is if u cant manage to carry the buggy up the stairs look glum and some miserable bugger will help u in the end!!! havent read but where are u getting off? some have lifts and otherwise the escalator isnt too bad.

hello lanis hun!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive been sat in today waiting for my tumble dryer. dropeed ds off this morning at nursery and then came back home at least we will have nice dry clothes and not have to wait a week before they are dry!!!

yackertyyack · 22/11/2006 15:42

CYAN....how the devil are you??? Hope the course is going well and that ds is enjoying nursery?
FLAMESPARROW - Glad you joined the party!
NANNY - The past few times i have been on jobs with dd i have taken her travel system!!So not the lightest!! I find if you start bumping it down the stairs someone will feel sorry for you and offer to help!! Not sure where you are getting into but you can walk to aldgate from fenchurch street or liverpool street!
Everyone else - hope you are all busy!!
Nothing happening here apart from me and the ironing board getting aquainted!

mimi1uk · 22/11/2006 15:43

ah i love my tumble dryer its the best! deffo worth waiting for.....especially the way this house gets through clothes, well i have spent all afternoon getting photos of riley,, now ill have to sit and look through them and try to find a couple of nice ones, he is worn out now, so i have treated him to a milky bar, we had lots of fun tho which was nice, and i have tons of photos of him, so thats a good thing, i have my new laptop here now, i just need to work out how to coonect it to the wireless network now, hum, lol this should be fun xxx

lanismum · 22/11/2006 16:38
