lovely to hear from you Zombie and thank fuck you gave in, I'm sure your friends are glad to help out. who wouldn't?
now you can have the laundry and a nice clean house done so you can just focus on getting well. that is your only job!Wink

good luck with busy week ahead, let's hope the weather behaves - I seem to remember you like warm or even hot, but I'm wondering if you prefer cooler temperatures for now. heat is exhausting!

we had a tiring weekend, BabyZing is teething and had a fever since Friday. poor boy, 3rd tooth is out now but the 4th one is still struggling to cut through.
last 2 nights he would only sleep on top of me (poor me!) and he is glued to me during the day.
Having said that I've been enjoying the extra cuddles. Smile

magimedi · 14/06/2015 16:42

Lovely to hear from you, Zombie.

Well done on giving in - you can't do everything at the moment.

Take it easy in between appointments next week.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 14/06/2015 18:47

Hi Zombie, well done asking for help, I'm sure your friends are only too happy to muck in, as you would be for them.

Pottering slowly sounds good and you need to conserve your strength for your appointments this week.

FX for good results Flowers

mummylin2495 · 14/06/2015 19:53

It's so nice to see that you asked for help Zombe, so many people would just struggle on , when in fact their friends would be glad to be doing something to help. I am sure we all wished we lived nearer so we too could help out in someway.
It's good that you won't have to worry about the house, washing etc , just concentrate on getting well and let others worry about the practical side of things for now, at least until you are feeling much stronger.

I'm tired. Very tired. But it's a good tired. I did more today than I've done for a while. But every time I felt any strain, I sat down and had a good long rest.

I'm going to take my meds very soon and head upstairs. I shall then enjoy sorting my clean knickers, socks and some pjs before crawling into my nice fresh bed for a good night's sleep.

Wolfiefan · 14/06/2015 22:56

Enjoy the sorting and fresh sheets! Sleep well lovely Zombie. Wishing you all the best for the appointments next week. x

mummylin2495 · 15/06/2015 11:04

Good morning Zombie, I hope you really enjoyed your clean sheets ! If I had enough I would like clean ones every day, but I wouldn't want to strip the bed every day, I would have to get a chamber maid ( do they still use that term )
Please don't overtire yourself , you need to get as fit as you possibly can in the hope that your op will go ahead.
Is there anything that we on this thread can do to help you out at all ? Please ask if there is. Take it easy today x

Fresh sheets = BLISS

Just home from seeing the GP. We reviewed all my new meds. He agrees with me that I'm on too high a dosage of Furosemide. I had already dropped the 40mg at lunchtime and with his blessing will cut the breakfast dosage from 80mg to 40mg. He's going to speak with my oncologist about changing the daily injection to prevent blood clots for a tablet. I'm having blood tests in the morning to check all sorts of things including my Digoxin levels.

In a few minutes I'm going to clear out my fridge in preparation for the Tesco delivery between 1.00 and 2.00.

I'm collecting my house cleaning whirlwind from the train station at 3.00.

I will then sit and be waited on.

mummylin2495 · 15/06/2015 13:23

That's one apt out of the way. What is the tablet for, that doc has now reduced ? Hope you have already picked out something nice for your dinner tonight. Will you cook it or your friend ? That's the idea Zombie, just sit !

OP posts:
mummylin2495 · 15/06/2015 13:26

I hope that you can stop the injections, a tablet must be so much easier and it must be hard to keep finding a new place to inject ! I did the jabs for my dh when he had a hip replacement , and also for a friend who had the same op ! I have to admit I loved giving dh his ( evil, cackle ) I didn't mind doing it for others , but not sure if I could do it to myself !

IamtheZombie · 15/06/2015 14:01

It's my diuretic, Mummy. They sent me home on the same dosage as I had when we were trying to shift gallons of fluid from my body. I no longer have ANY excess fluid and am in fact now dehydrated.

Tesco delivery received and put away.

Progress.

iklboo · 15/06/2015 16:21

Good to hear sensible med reviews Zombie. Hope all goes as well for the other appointments.

mummylin2495 · 15/06/2015 19:01

Hope you are enjoying your dinner and of course the company of your friend. It's so nice to have someone to chat with in the evenings. But saying that I am usually on my iPad. Dh is on his laptop. My brother is here and he is on his phone and later ds and gs will both be here on iPad and gs on his game ! So not a lot of chat here ! But mine is important I have to check on my threads !

Good news that meds are being reduced, that should mean reduction in side effects, so easier for you to build strength.

Hope you've had a lovely time with your whirlwind GrinFlowers

Flowers lin you always make me smile xxx

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 16/06/2015 22:59

FX for good results from today's blood tests.

Hope you are still sitting, and being waited on Grin

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 17/06/2015 13:54

Fragmin / warfarin injections are the pits - so glad you are moving to tablet form!

Agree with BBB - hope you are being treated like a queen and getting enough rest.

mummylin2495 · 17/06/2015 20:39

Hi all especially Zombie. Hope you are still resting and getting some strength back now. I would imagine your body has been really put through the mill in the past few weeks. But hopefully each day will see you getting a bit stronger. Do you still have your friend with you ? Hope you have a big stock of clean knickers !!!

iklboo · 18/06/2015 17:03

Hi all. Hope you're feeling okay today Zombie and aren't trying to do too much.

We have a pet snake!!!

IamtheZombie · 18/06/2015 17:08

The whirlwind has gone home. I could never thank her enough for her help in starting to reclaim my home.

I saw the oncologist this afternoon. I saw one of the registrars first and we reviewed how I am doing, my meds and the liver operation. He listened to my lungs and could only detect a very slight crackle at the bottom of both lungs. He also checked my ankles for any sign of swelling. He decided I could stop the Furosemide completely. If I notice any signs of fluid retention I'll put myself back on the Furosemide at 40mg / day. It looks like switching from injection to tablet for blood clots isn't an option at this point. He has reduced the dosage though and will write to my GP to advise that he should prescribe a smaller syringe that contains the right dosage for my new body weight so I will no longer need to try and squirt out the excess in my current syringes. He also said they will contact Birmingham once they have the results of my echo and spirometry.

He then went to update Dr. Laura. She then came in to talk to me about further chemo. Subject to the echocardiogram, she wants to re-start me on Kadcyla at a reduced dosage. If all goes well, I'll have the next treatment in about 2 weeks.

So, I have a provisional plan for the short term at least.

mummylin2495 · 18/06/2015 17:16

Good that there is a plan of action Zombie. Upwards and forward now I hope. Good that your lungs aren't too bad as the fitter you are the better chance of them giving you your op.
It's a nuisance about still having to have the injections, but maybe that will change in the near future. Are they continuing with the same chemo or will you have a different one?

my biggest fear! I don't like anything that slithers and has beady eyes !

OP posts:
iklboo · 18/06/2015 18:14

Good to hear a sound treatment plan Zombie. Hope it has the desired effect for you.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 18/06/2015 23:50

Zombie so glad to hear that your care plan is being closely monitored and adjusted, and that you are being given some control.

It would be nice to switch from the injections to tablets but the new prescription is a step in the right direction.

I do wish you didn't have to have the Kadcycla again.

Hope the whirlwind can come back soon and you're getting some sunny weather to enjoy your garden with the ZCats.

I love snakes! And lizards, but haven't been allowed to have them. I wanted a cageful of geckos covering a wall in my old kitchen but was told it was them or him Grin

What did you call him/her in the end iklboo? Can you tell the difference?

iklboo · 19/06/2015 07:18

Can't tell the difference but he / she is called Pike. It's a lavender corn snake. Sooooooo cute!

mummylin2495 · 19/06/2015 09:14

Cute ! Babies are cute not snakes ! We get slow worms in our garden now and then and even they scare me !

And a semi-busy week comes to an end.

Echocardiogram and Spiromety completed. You know you're a frequent flyer when the sonographer intercepts you on your way to check in and greets you by name! From what I could see, I was in normal sinus rhythm throughout. Confirmed that there is NO fluid around the heart. Right side of heart is on borderline normal / slightly enlarged. She will compare these images with previous ones (PRE hospital adventure). Spirometry was quite quick. No idea what the results meant but I'm sure they are well below normal. My oncologist should have the results and reports this afternoon or tomorrow.

The NHS Occupational Therapist came to see me at home. The only bit of additional kit we're adding at the moment is a bath / shower lift. It sounds quite fancy! It has to come from Social Services. She is also sending me an application for a Blue Badge and putting me in touch with the hospice outreach nurse.

All in all a fairly productive day. I even have some energy left!
