I had my oncology appointment this afternoon. I was seen by Dr. Gadir who is my favourite senior registrar.
A lot of the appointment was spent trying to sort out my scan appointments. I am supposed to have CT and MRI scans next week. You may recall that when I was at the Liver Clinic at the QE Hospital Birminham about a month ago, they indicated that they wanted the scans done at the QE. However, I've had no scan appointments from them although I do have my next Liver Clinic on 22nd October. I did receive an appointment for an MRI next Tuesday at the Royal Shrewsbury but nothing about the CT. Oh, yes, I also have an appointment for an Echocardiogram next Tuesday. Dr. G. rang Radiology Appointments and after being passed around a bit he spoke with someone who could explain. Sort of...
Apparently I was originally given an appointment for a CT in August. That was cancelled "until further notice". I received the MRI appointment letter at the end of the first week in August. It seems however that THAT appointment has also been cancelled although I was never notified. Radiology are now trying to schedule both scans for next week.
The physical exam got a bit interesting when Dr. G. kept going back to my right armpit (the one that still has lymphnodes). He thinks it's more likely to be a bit of muscle than a lymph node. The CT scan should answer the question.
He's also not really concerned about the bone spur-like thingy on my shoulder. If it starts growing or giving me any problems, we'll get an x-ray done.
I've got the OK to have my flu jab.
Oh, and if I'm a very, very good girl and take all possible precautions, I have permission for a little holiday.
