Let's just talk about the Vauxhall Zafira. 7 seats? Oho I don't THINK so

I have one on loan while my (beloved) Multipla is in the shop (head on collision with idiotic youth ). Two seats in front, ok, three seats in the back - er yes as long as the middle child is about 10cm wide - no way of fitting three car seats in back. Two folding seats in the boot - crappy, uncomfortable and pants for adults or anyone for a long distance.

God I miss my Multipla.

Enid, not to mention the fact that the 'boot' is the size of an egg box when all 7 seats are in.

LadyTophamHatt · 09/11/2006 11:12

yes...thats why we're not getting one too.

3 "seats" in the middle row, just as long as the middle person is about an inch wide.

LadyTophamHatt · 09/11/2006 11:13

yes that too NdP

Enid · 09/11/2006 11:13

it is PANTS

Agree - my SIL has one and she loves it. I've been in it and it's absolutely crap imo. You should have seen them cramming their stuff into the boot to go on holiday. They had SIL an BIL in front, baby seat and MIL on back seat and 4 yr old dd in one of the very back seats (there was no way she, babyseat and MIL were going to fit across the back seat). So they had the teeny, tiniest space to fit in luggage for 5 people.

Pants.

Gobbledispook · 09/11/2006 11:14

Put it this way, you could not carry 7 people plus luggage for 7 people on a holiday or something. So, really, it's not a proper 7 seater is it? You can't get 7 adults in it!

oliveoil · 09/11/2006 11:18

Enid - head on collision????????

Everyone ok?

Did you have an 'interesting' conversation with said youth?

JanH · 09/11/2006 11:18

Excuse me, ladies, no need to get in a tizz, it doesn't claim to be a proper 7-seater - it's in a different class from the behemoths [smiles] - but it does what it does well enough, thanks.

TheHighwayCod · 09/11/2006 11:19

i fit int he bakc

oliveoil · 09/11/2006 11:22

??

JanH · 09/11/2006 11:23

She fits in the back, oo, do keep up!

misdee · 09/11/2006 11:29

sparkly has a zafira. i have sat in one of the back seats. had to climb in and out of the boot. not very lady like at all

Enid · 09/11/2006 12:29

but you may as well have a saloon

we had one found it REALLY good. but i felt the seats in the boot were only any good for occasional use.

mumlove · 09/11/2006 13:41

I have one and also 3 child car seats together on the back seat (2 0-4 yrs & 1 high backed booster).
But do agree that the 2 very back seats are for occasional use only.

misdee · 09/11/2006 13:43

i would get one, but ONLY because the boot space with the 2 seat down is rather good. how does boot space on the multipla compare?

FIMBO · 09/11/2006 13:44

I sat in one of the back seats of ours whilst 7mths pregnant.

SparklyGothKat · 09/11/2006 13:51

I have one and I can fit 3 highback boosters in the middle row, back 2 seats only get used once in a while.

doormat · 09/11/2006 13:55

I fit a teenager and 2 car seats in the back seat of our zafira

JanH · 09/11/2006 14:02

Why would you want a saloon?

It's an estate car which seats 5+2, which is miles more use than one which doesn't! The wheelbase is the same as an Astra so it's a neat size, lovely to drive and easy to park, and you can get masses of stuff in the back with the seats all down like a full-size bike and furniture and recycling for the tip (not all at once of course )

It's not an MPV, it's a mini-MPV, but we can - at a squeeze, and with DH in the very back because he doesn't care - fit all 6 of us in, smallest about 5'5. The rest of the time, with 1 or 2 or 3 in, it's a perfectly nice and economical car to run around in, unlike the monster MPVs.

Debbiethemum · 09/11/2006 14:19

I love our Zafira, there are only four of us, but if either of the MIL's are staying I can fit in the back row between the two car seats - but not for long journeys.
It has a lovely big boot and we knew that we wouldn't use the two seats in the boot that often but they are there when needed.
It was fantastic when camping last summer as we had nephew & niece joining us for a week and the MIL's joining us as well, one bringing & the other collecting and we could all go out for the day together in one car rather than two - very impotant when paying for parking at Studland.
One thing I didn't like about most of the MPV's is that the seats didn't fold away so that you had either the large boot OR the extra seats and couldn't chop and change as easily.
Can you tell I'm a fan

2Shoes · 09/11/2006 14:27

it worked brilliantly with dd's wheelchair as well. big boot

Enid · 09/11/2006 14:38

cant fit three car seats on the middle row - therefore it seats 4 with two optional seats at teh back and NO BOOT

Multipla has 6 full size reclining seats plus a (admittedly not huge) boot

soooooooooooo much better

also the zafira makes me instantly depressed whenever I see it in the car park

it is so....grey

Enid · 09/11/2006 14:40

god WHY would you have one if there are only 4 of you

why have even a mini mpv if only 4 of you

its a mystery

you may as well have an estate sooooooooooo much cooler

I have got one Britax freeway and two high back booster seats in the back of our zafira, no problem. Agree that climbing into the boot to use one of the extra seats is not very ladylike, but don't do that very often. Our children are 6,4 and 2 and the zafira suits us fine with the large boot space.
