Let's just talk about the Vauxhall Zafira. 7 seats? Oho I don't THINK so

I have one on loan while my (beloved) Multipla is in the shop (head on collision with idiotic youth ). Two seats in front, ok, three seats in the back - er yes as long as the middle child is about 10cm wide - no way of fitting three car seats in back. Two folding seats in the boot - crappy, uncomfortable and pants for adults or anyone for a long distance.

God I miss my Multipla.

Enid · 09/11/2006 14:48

This, one the other hand is whizzy and fast and very very very poooosh

God know why they've let me get one

cerys · 09/11/2006 14:55

Enid, ds(aged 2)goes in the Britax seat in the middle, and the DDs have Maxi Cosi Rodi boosters either side. Stops the girls fighting and means DS can pull both girls' hair

lilibet · 09/11/2006 15:04

I luuuuurve my Multipla!!

My friend has a Zafira, not in the same league imo.

5 of us go to France in it every summer in comfort - it's wonderful

swift1 · 09/11/2006 15:20

We will be after an mpv soon as I am pg with no.2 and dh already has 2 children, who we have every other w/e. Do you think a zafira would suit us? Most of the time it will just be me and 2 children , and only 4 of us at w/e when dh home, and only 6 of us twice a month. I dont want to drive round in some monstrous massive bus that will cost me a fortune to maintain and in petrol. I just want r egular car hat wilh house a few extra occaiaonally, what do you think??

Enid · 09/11/2006 15:21

multipla multipla multipla

swift1 · 09/11/2006 15:22

But can you get a multipla in a 1.6 ,like you cana zafira? Im worried about petrol costs

mytwopenceworth · 09/11/2006 15:24

i love our zaphira. its a good size and versatile (go on, i bet that's wrong sp!) for a family of 4. big boot or row each for the kids or all the seats down and its a little van. does us fine. now leave it alone. if you have too many bums competing for seats in a proper car, get a minibus - or a roofrack, or a trailer, or a wheelbarrow with a tow rope......

Olihan · 09/11/2006 15:34

Swift, that's similar to us. We've got 2 dcs at the moment, I'm pg with dc3 but we also foster 9 year old with autism who stays once every 3rd weekend. He hates sitting between the dcs so the extra seats at the back are great. We can fit 3 seats across the back of ours (Stage 0, Stage 1 and highback booster, also managed 2 highback boosters and a Stage 1 last week). It's so handy having the extra seats already in the car and not having to choose whether to put them in or not. We can also fit an umbrella fold double buggy in the boot space with both rear seats up (but not much else. For your set up it would be really good but if you wanted to go on a long summer holiday with all 4 dcs you'd have to get a roof box.

I love our Zafira, even though it is the most boring car in the world but it's so flexible for us and our set up and there isn't another car that does what it does at the moment. The option of having the 7 seats as and when you need them is great and, crucially, it's not as monster, gas guzzling, money swallowing, or environmentally unfriendly as a real MPV (which it doesn't claim to be, incidentally!). You can't really beat it for price either, for what it is.

Did I mention I really like it?

JanH · 09/11/2006 15:39

swift, whatever car you get make it a diesel.

My Zafira is a 2.0dti (I think the new ones are 1.9dti) and I get 40+ mpg from it. I recently had a petrol 1.8 for a couple of weeks and it hoovered up petrol, it seemed to use about twice as much as mine, and Yorkiegirl used to have a 1.6 (I think) and hers did too.

Have a look at that new Ford S-Max though, all the seats fold flat into the floor I think and it is supposed to be a much better car (for a copy )

LadyTophamHatt · 09/11/2006 15:48

Thats what DH iked about Jan.... the seats folding into the floor.

But the thing he likes best is my uncle works for ford and got us a mahoooosive discount

I'm bricking it about driving the thing though...

longwaytogo · 09/11/2006 15:49

I have had a Zafira and currently have a multipla and the multipla wins hands down.

Soooo much more room, getting into the back of the zafira was a pain with two carseats either side on the middle row the only way to the back seats was through the boot - climbing over shopping, pushchairs etc.

Don't buy a petrol multipla though its gutsy we are currently looking for a diesel so ours is up for grabs.

Y reg 100,000 miles on clock anyone interested?

JanH · 09/11/2006 15:54

Of course it's got more room, it's BIGGER!

anon666 · 09/11/2006 15:59

I love my zafira but only have 2 dc. It is easy to park and feels like normal car but with loads more space. we have easily fitted 5 adults and 2 dc in. plus you don't need storage space for the extra seats unlike most flexible MPVs.

Enid · 09/11/2006 17:49

get the diesal multipla 1.9 mine does miles and miles to the tankful it is very economical

I have heard the petrol one is very very greedy

OP posts:
Enid · 09/11/2006 17:49

it doesnt feel bigger janh - its shorter for a start

OP posts:
Gobbledispook · 09/11/2006 17:52

Ooh, it is lush. Like a house on wheels!

LadyTophamHatt · 09/11/2006 17:54

nah!!
my car's nicer than yours

(well it will be when we get it)

Gobbledispook · 09/11/2006 17:55

Er, no.

LadyTophamHatt · 09/11/2006 17:57
