SBOTH agreed to venture outside. We went for pancakes. He had a Wispa pancake & a creme egg milkshake. I had a chicken, mayo & black pepper one. Almost virtuous!

IamtheZombie · 16/04/2015 22:54

Headache from hell - tick.

Pain (severe) affecting bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons - tick.

That's more than enough Kadcyla side effects thank you very much.

I'm going to take my cocodamol and my sleepy pills and head to bed.

Good night all.

Oh Zombie that dosent sound very good, I hope the side affects don't last too long and that you soon pick up again. Have you sorted out help for when you get home after your op ?

PeaceOfWildThings · 17/04/2015 08:26

Sounds hellish hard Zombie. Hope that the cocodamol had enough effect that you could get some rest and sleep. Love and hugs and Brew and splendid views, joyous thoughts and rapier wit wished on you and your good company. You really and a truly marvelous person to post about that when you are feeling so terrible, you know. Flowers

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 17/04/2015 09:36

That sound like shit, poor ZombieThanks

Hope you get to sleep and get less achy soon

(gentle hugs)

iklboo · 17/04/2015 17:53

Oh no, Zombie. That sounds rubbish. Hope the co-codamol gave you some relief & you managed to get some sleep. Wishing a speedy end to these side effects & that you're feeling better very soon.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 18/04/2015 23:49

Sorry to hear you were feeling so bad Zomb, I hope it's passed now.

How often do you have to have the Kadcycla and do they/will they always have such bad side effects?

I'm in complete awe of your abstinence; a very tough prospect on top of everything else you are dealing with. If a anyone can do it sweetheart, you can.

I can see that the rest of the phalanx are being very supportive and giving things up with you.
In my experience this can make people a bit irritable so I will be selflessly soldiering on with the booze and the 'fresh air' in the hope that I can occasionally raise a smile Grin

we should plan a big phalanx hooley in the summer when you're back to normal !

(((Bear)))

IamtheZombie · 19/04/2015 01:33

Someone please tell me to go to bed...

Still feeling fairly grotty but certainly better than I was. Temperature is behaving itself.

Appointment letter for pre-operation consultation / screening arrived today. It's for Friday, 15 May at 09:00am. EEK!!!

Admission information letter also arrived today.

Let the countdown commence.

I will be on the Kadcyla (except for the hiatus necessitated by my operation) for as long as it works. And yes, the side effects will happen every cycle.

Autumn may be a better time for a Phalanx Hooley as I will be incapicated for much of the summer.

I hope you got to bed very soon after you posted and you were able to get comfortable and get some sleep Zombie,

In the past I've done the stopping booze pre-op thing. I usually turn to V8 with all the bits and bobs for a Bloody Mary, Tabasco, Lee & Perrins, celery salt, but no vodka. The performance of making it is soothing, and it tastes of something! Also elderflower presse in a flute glass with a strawberry or two floating in it is nice in the summer.

It must be horrible for you that you suffer so much from the Kadcyla side effects, I really hope they are clearing for you now. Try to rest as much as you can, drink plenty of water.

Have you got any visitors this week? They will lift your spirits. Thanks

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 19/04/2015 10:16

What's a hooley?Confused

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 19/04/2015 10:16

and go to bed ZombieWink

Allalonenow · 19/04/2015 10:28

A hooley is a wild wild party with music, dancing and gallons of booze, Irish, so learn to sing "Fine girl you are" and "The Fields of Athenry" Grin

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 19/04/2015 10:42

wild - tick
dancing -tick
singing -tick
learning Irish songs - in progress
boozing - ummmm I'll make no promises

where is this party supposed to take place? dress code?

iklboo · 19/04/2015 15:24

Zing - dress code don't matter cos it'll just end up sweaty & rumpled with all the dancing Grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 19/04/2015 20:52

Yikes, I didn't realise a hooley was Irish, I thought it was just any old wild dancing drinking bash Grin

Zing you decide the dress code ...

IamtheZombie · 19/04/2015 20:56

Evening friends.

Yesterday was a fair day. I therefore decided last night to just take ibuprofen at bedtime. When I woke this moring, I took plain paracetamol. This was a mistake. A VERY BIG mistake. The day has been spent between an hour or two downstairs, an hour or two in bed in a continuous cycle. The pain has become increasingly severe during the day. My finger and hands felt like what I imagine severe arthritis must feel like. The rest of my body followed suit.

So I have gone back on the codeine which I'm glad to say is at least taking the edge off. If this follows the same pattern as last time, the pain should subside in a couple of more days.

Allalonenow · 19/04/2015 21:59

I think that the trick with pain killers (and how they work best) is to keep to a steady moderate dose.

If you lower the dose too soon and then unfortunately start being in serious distress again, you have to start once more from the baseline, so it's more of a hill for the painkillers to overcome.

I am not a medic, and I'm sure your hospital support team will explain it much better than me, but once you have found a level that you are comfortable at, you should maintain that. Maybe phone them for some advice tomorrow Zombie?

I really hope you manage to get some calm rest tonight.

magimedi · 20/04/2015 13:09

Sorry to hear of all the pain, Zombie.

I agree with allalone about keeping up the pain killers, they definitely have a cumilative effect.

iklboo · 20/04/2015 20:13

Hope your pain is easing today and the sunshine has helped. Wishing you a peaceful & pain free night's sleep tonight.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 20/04/2015 22:55

Another one here advocating the cumulative effect of painkillers, I used to think I could just take one dose and that would float me through a day.

I've actually found it better to take a bit more, a bit more often to start with, and then maintenance can be half what's recommended.

As Allalone says though, talk to your team Zombie, so tempting to tinker around with it all, hopefully they can give you parameters.

I'd like to send a large pot of cream to ZCats, as I'm sure they are doing stirling cuddle duties [purrrrrrrrrr]

Am going to give some serious (haha) thought to the hooley.

If it's going to be autumnal, I think we need to be thinking Southern Hemisphere.

I know we;ve got some major ZombieTeam antipodeans, what do you think.
Tonga?
Fiji?
I very flexible.
Get your people to call my people.
We could probably end up going forward, bloooooooooo sky Grin

Allalonenow · 20/04/2015 23:38

Hope you have been a bit better today Zombie and you have got the pain more under control. I hope you are taking things easy and slow and resting a lot.

B3

Samoa? I'm thinking octopus in coconut milk and pig roasted in banana leaves for the buffet.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 21/04/2015 11:41

oh Zombie poor you. Thanks It's brave of you to try and go with lightweight painkillers but obviously that wasn't enough. so sorry you've been in a lot of pain
sending you much love and strength

(meanwhile in the ZingPalace Zinglette has a streaming cold but thinks nothing of running outside naked to jump on the trampoline.Confused it's sunny but very windy. silly girlSmile )

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 21/04/2015 11:42

i ain't eating octopus. sounds revolting

mummylin2495 · 21/04/2015 12:59

I'm with you Zing, I'm not eating it either ! Ugh how horrible.
Zombie I am so sorry that you have to go through all this horrible treatment and pain, but hopefully it's all going to be worth it in the long run. It must seem sometimes like hell on earth for you. I hope you can work out what pain killers work the best for you and that you get the pain under bearable control. How is your non smoking going ? I have sinned and had about 3 Within a few days, but over the last few weeks I don't think I have done badly at all when I prob used to have between 10 and 15 per day. So I'm not gonna beat myself up about having 3 cigs in 4 weeks.heres hoping that things soon improve for you Zombie. Thinking of you.
How are the rest of the DBF team doing in your various abstinences ? I can't be the only sinner.

Allalonenow · 21/04/2015 15:02

Grin Zing and lin do you not eat calamari then? ~ sqiud - very similar to octopus.
