I just love your poem, iklboo

You are now the poet laureate for the phalanx!!

"Pomes" (!) are expected from you to mark every occasion!

iklboo · 10/04/2015 21:35

Feck. Grin

Pass the ration magi, old bean. A muse needs her ginspiration.

A pome an update eh? I'll try me best.

Fantastic news Zombie, I'll nag you about taking it easy nearer the time when I have all faculties at my disposal; brain and internet Grin

Love the poem iklboo

[phlowers] for all the phalanx, especially our commander-in-chief Flowers

IamtheZombie · 10/04/2015 23:57

Yes, this is good news, magi. They think I'm strong enough to undergo the surgery and the hope is that it will permanently eliminate the cancer in my liver. It's not an overall cure but it could mean a substantial amount of more life.

Zing, my lovely, was your surgery keyhole or open?

iklboo, you are a poetic genius! More please.

Bee, you won't need to nag. I will be utterly incapable of doing anything other than taking it easy.

OK Phalanx. Now for the tough news. I'm going to have to stop drinking soon. My liver needs to be in as good as possible shape for the surgery. After the surgery I'll have less liver (for a while - the liver does regenerate) for a few months.

magi, you'll love this bit. I also need to get to grips with vaping asap so my lungs are in optimal condition for the anaesthetic.

EEEEEK!

Zombie That is great news!

Here's some vaping stuff for you:

and a mini nautilus tank: myepack.co.uk/aspire-nautilus-mini.html

It is a great vape, lots of smoke produced & is probably the favourite kit of most people who have tried it.

Come over to the vaping threads & you'll get lots of help: myepack.co.uk/aspire-nautilus-mini.html

PHALANX

Line up!

Finish all the gin & then we are going to join Zombie on the wagon for a bit.

Get going & we can finish the supplies within a few days. Grin

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/04/2015 08:51

yep, keyhole. I had lots of gallstones, on scan it looked like the Quarry in Thomas The Tank EngineGrin

because it was just the gb, converting to open surgery would've meant to make an incision about 1-2cms long, say because the gb is too enlarged/too full of stones to pull through smoothly.
technically it then would have been classified as open (legally also they'd had to declare that of course) but in terms of recovery it wouldn't have made much of a difference.

do you know if you have gallstones or is the gb need taking out because of it's proximity to the cancerous area?
if the latter, then even if you have gallstones hopefully that aspect itself won't neccesitate a convertion to open surgery.
as you said your recovery will be quite different though.

I am so excited for you.Smile

mummylin2495 · 11/04/2015 09:05

Wow Zombie, what fabulous news to read ! My brother had his gall bladder removed two weeks ago. He had keyhole surgery. There are 4 entry points on him. His op was because of stones.
As for the smoking, I am still recovering from the most awful virus I have ever had, it affected my breathing massively and I stopped smoking straight away. This is from 3 weeks ago now. It has not been too bad although there have been times when I have really fancied one now I am recovering. But I have stuck to it and I have been smoking for years !!!

magimedi · 11/04/2015 09:19

Mummylin - HUGE congratulations on your 3 weeks of quitting.

I hope you are putting the fag money in a jar & will be using it to treat yourself to something nice in a bit.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/04/2015 10:07

Zombie

since I don't smoke or drink (not a stealth boast!) but want to give up something in support of you so until thevend of May I'm gonna give up my dear friends Biscuits and Cakes.

srarting right now

DD's & DS5's birthdays are coming up, so I might have a bite of birthday cake, but that's it.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/04/2015 10:09

i will need extra virtual Biscuit & Cake thoughWink

here's virtual booze & fags Wine & TorchGrin Grin

mummylin2495 · 11/04/2015 13:48

magimed I have to admit I would not of stopped if I hadn't been so ill the past couple of weeks! I would of merrily puffed away despite everything! but when I was struggling for breath I just didn't want one! I will never ( hopefully ) go back , but the craving is still there, but the difference in my breathing is amazing, although I am now on a steroid inhaler and another two besides, but they are no problem. Think two of them are only short term. If I had a pack of tobacco here I'm not sure if I would roll one or not ! But I haven't and I am not going to buy any. It will help that I have my ds and gs moving in here temporarily whilst ds house is having new extension and soon there will be no roof And neither smokes and they don't like it so that's another incentive for me. Gs is coming this weekend and ds will come when existing roof comes off ! Breathing is easier, no awful smokers cough and no pounding heart when it's hard to breath. I would be extremely stupid to go backwards. It has been easy when I felt ill but now I'm a lot better will be a real test for me ! I will try so hard and maybe Zombie and I can go through this together !

iklboo · 11/04/2015 15:23

Aw (blush) thanks Zombie.

Elderflower cordial & tonic tastes quite a bit like a g & t. It's what I've been having in RL instead of the proper stuff. Very refreshing with ice and a slice.

PeaceOfWildThings · 11/04/2015 18:14

I'll gladly join in with the alcohol fast and I don't smoke. I'm going to try giving up dairy as of now (for other reasons) so will throw that in as my alternative to stopping smoking.

I like the sound of these mocktails.

iklboo · 11/04/2015 20:23

I don't smoke either so...I'll give up my Monday & Friday morning muffin with my coffee on the way to work.

Savings proceeds at the end of July to Cancer Research. Deal? Wink

IamtheZombie · 12/04/2015 23:14

Just to prove (courtesy of a patchy skype connection) that Zombie Lad really is my son.

As usual, I am late to the party and now people are giving up Wine and Cake Grin

This sound very good news re the surgery Zombie.

magimedi · 13/04/2015 19:21

Zlad looks amazing!

I am only giving up virtual Wine.

Much as I love Zombie I am too old to forgo the pleasures that may not be mine for ever!

So, the virtual gin needs drinking!

Clinkissamo!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 14/04/2015 02:32

magi
I don't blame you, I'm really struggling without my morning jaffa cakes! Didn't eat special gift homemade choc chip cookies yesterday either. I reckon that's worse than no booze nor fag.Wink Grin

mummylin2495 · 15/04/2015 17:10

Ooh I had Jaffa cakes this morning at my hairdressers ! She buys them especially for my friend and I on a Wed .
Doing well with my non smoking, but I don't have drink to give up as I seldom drink alcohol , and I eat what I like because I never put ant weight on, although I could do with a bit more, but have always been the same.
Hope you are all enjoying this lovely sunny day, especially you Zombie. How are you feeling ? Hope your hosp apt for your op is still the same.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 15/04/2015 20:35

Ah, found a little signal window!
Thinking of you Zombie, glad you're all getting some sunshine, hope all the air pollution has cleared now.
cin cin!

Sorry, not very good at giving things up Grin

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 15/04/2015 21:00

The SweetTooth Fairy has been here - I've just found a red velvet cake. Next to stashed away KitKats. just what's going on here?

iklboo · 15/04/2015 22:59

Hey Zombie. Hope all is well with you.

So far no muffin. No cave in on naughty stuff really. Still having my Haribo mini packet at bedtime. A girl's got to have something to look forward to after a crappy (and v exhausting) day at work.

Half day tomorrow with Small Boy Of The House. He'll want a pyjama day playing Lego Heroica. I have naice lunch in mind instead. He will probably win out.

Cin cin with virtual gin! Wine
