Usually, the moment they take out the needle I don't feel anything, no soreness. I tried lifting a shop basket with few items in it - my arm collapsed. Anyway, all done now.

Last but one time I went, the flow kept stopping & the staff member had to adjust the needle so many times he ended up standing by me nearly the whole time. The next day the bruise went half way down my forearm .

It's a bigger needle than a normal blood test.

They always do the 'pressing on the needle' thing to me - dunno if it's cos I had a rebleed several donations ago (I was happily enjoying my tea and biscuits when the lady sitting next to me suddenly went, "Ooh-er" and pointed at my left hand, which had blood dripping off it onto the floor. Was whisked back into the donation area and a hefty nurse put pressure on it for about 10 minutes before it would stop .

I've also had the blood pack split (blood all over the donation area floor) and have fainted twice. It's a wonder they still let me do it !
