We are getting to the 1000 limit so I thought I would start a new happy thread!

OP posts:
housemum · 16/10/2006 19:25

Blooming Marvellous turned you down too?? Know the feeling! Not sure if it's worse being rejected straight away, or doing the shoot then it never being used (though at least then yuor kid gets paid). DD's first two jobs were like that - was desperate for the Next Directory to come out and virtually ripped it out of the hand of the poor shop assistant standing forlornly in the door trying to sell the directory - only to find her shots weren't used!

mrsratty · 16/10/2006 19:25

lanismum - I agree with you too, how are they going to be able to cope with being turned down for jobs!

OP posts:
lanismum · 16/10/2006 19:46

yeah blooming marvellous was her first ever casting and i was so convinced she was going to be chosen she was very well behaved, looked straight at the camera, everything, that first time was the hardest, im quite used to her getting turned down now bless her! i do think id be even more upset if she got a job but her shots were not used though, one step at a time though!

Quadrofiendia · 16/10/2006 19:49

thanks guys for your virtual support, please all remember you will do well not to diss UA
I haven't posted on there for yonks but wow that wound me up a treat thought the multiple posts were quite funny too

marymay · 16/10/2006 19:50

we love urban angels! one of the pictures from my dd first job has just been put on their web site. feeling proudcant see her very clearly(but who cares).

lanismum · 16/10/2006 19:51

yeah, think the other poster gave up in the end hate to say it but it sounded like a classic case of sour grapes to me?

lanismum · 16/10/2006 19:53

aww bless mary may, proud mum alert!

ellesmum · 16/10/2006 19:53

has anyone noticed that trace2 and julies threads have been deleted re the british isle comp???????

ellesmum · 16/10/2006 19:54

btw i love urban angels!!! only because they asked her in for an assesment though! lol

housemum · 16/10/2006 20:04

I did see a couple of trace's were deleted but I hadn't read them in time - things do get a bit spooky at times on here don't they? From the bits I did read, I don't recall anything inflammatory, just a bit of disappointment re not having separate girls and boys?

ellesmum · 16/10/2006 20:10

i know its very strange, i dont see anything wrong with what they said, its their right to be a bit dissapointed, i would be.

ellismummy · 16/10/2006 20:20

Have to agree with quad and cyan too.

My ds did get invited in 4 assesment with ua but was to scared to post that on cm net as didnt think it would go down too well with some people!!

mrsratty · 16/10/2006 20:31

I think the deleted posts were to do with some kids wearing make up, I don't see the problem with that!

OP posts:
mrsratty · 16/10/2006 20:37

The BI thread has gone from CM too, nothing bad was said! Why does everything hve to be censored! Soon the UA thread will be gone too as we can only say positive things to each other!!

OP posts:
ellesmum · 16/10/2006 20:41

i know its getting so stupid, whats the point in having open forums and not being able to express your views good or bad???

lanismum · 16/10/2006 20:46

how can they have deleted posts just because they mentioned putting makeup on kids? when ua updated lanis pics last time they used a bit of powder on her face to take the shine off, i presume they use it on some jobs too, dont see it as a big deal? wonder if this post will be deleted?

lanismum · 16/10/2006 20:50

i reckon they were deleted because they mentioned the lack of boys thing? maybe? oh well!

Gingeme · 16/10/2006 20:54

Good evening ladies I wondered if anyone could help me please?
I had a photographer come to my house to take some pre natal photos of me for her port folio (Im 38 weeks preg with ds4) and have a ds who is 2 and a half and she took a couple of lovely pics of him while she was here.
Anyway she mentioned he had the looks and mentality to do modeling. My dh and I have been having a serious talk about it and wondered if any of you could put us in touch with any reputable agents. We live in North London by the way.
Would much appreciate any help you could pass our way thanks.

lanismum · 16/10/2006 20:56

hi gingeme, as a starting point id say apply to bruce and brown, urban angels, kids london, and mot models, these are all highly recommended.

Gingeme · 16/10/2006 21:01

Thanks lanismum. Do these all have web sites? How long has lanis been modeling? I was reading through some of the thread and saw some Mums having trouble with schools. My ds is at nursery 3 mornings a week so shouldnt see any probs arrising. Sorry for so many questions.

lanismum · 16/10/2006 21:04

yes they all have websites, you can apply online to all of them except kids london, you have to post pictures off to them.
my dd has been with ua since feb, and has so far only had castings, but am really pleased with them as an agency, i cant be of any help to you re schools, as my dd is only 19 months old, but im sure one of the mums of older kids will be along soon, good luck with the applications!

Gingeme · 16/10/2006 21:08

Ah lovely thankyou. Ill keep a check on this thread and see who else can advise me. Ill check out the websites tommorrow. Thanks again. x

housemum · 16/10/2006 21:57

Gingeme - if you look on childmodelling.net they have links to most agency websites, I think it's under something like "agency profiles".

AbbyMumsnet · 16/10/2006 22:08

Just to clarify, as I understand it the posts that have been deleted today were at the request of the original posters themselves, not because they broke any MN guidelines.

mysonsmummy · 16/10/2006 22:14

im glad UA dont accept anyone. must admit when KL and B&B said no to ds it was a bit of a wake up call for me - how dare they. lol

last year ds did a job had some posters in job centres and doctors etc. walking past kilburn job centre today and there are massive posters of him in the windows. apparently they are in the whole of brent, milton keynes and southwark. does anyone know what other job centres are classed as brent except kilburn as really want to take him to see them. thanks
