We are getting to the 1000 limit so I thought I would start a new happy thread!

hi guys! we want a monsoon call now too, i was only in there yesterday looking at a gorgeous top for ds, glad i put it back on the shelf now, lol xx

lolalou · 17/10/2006 14:31

thanks Lolly
manchester further for me than London - but
Quad - northampton! Who are you with?

Lolly68 · 17/10/2006 14:32

Bye Quad - spk later!

Lolly68 · 17/10/2006 14:33

Lolalou - Quad LO's are with Urban Angels - they are based in London also.

julie4travel · 17/10/2006 14:34

lolalou- our train tickets are about 20 pounds each time. my ds loves it we normally go and do other stuff when in london too like the tower of london or a cruise on the thames. probably will take him to a show on another of our trips. he loves the one on one attention on the rain etc we do reading and hangman etc. our train service is good at 38 mins if the fast one so not that bad. i am willing to pay out if its something i think he will benefit from. he is a confident little boy yet this is increasing each time he does something else. If he decided he didn't want to do it anymore we would just stop.

2ManyPimms · 17/10/2006 14:35

Haven't had a chance to read all the thread....

Just got the John Lewis Toy catalogue - any LOs in there? Ditto for the Woolworths Big Red Book!

Still waiting to hear about the Junior shoot (potentially tomorrow - can't make it) and there has been nothing else on the cards for DS. Looking forward to the December issue of Junior to see if they are using his pics.

Scrolling thru I see a few new faces! WELCOME!

Good luck to everyone with castings and shoots!

Drat - I have brownies in the oven which won't be ready for another 15 minutes and I need to leave to fetch DD! Nuts.

lolalou · 17/10/2006 14:39

Thanks Julie - sounds like he really enjoys it - nice to combine with quality time and other sightseeing trips
really want to give it a go - DD 3 years - but travel 1hr by train - if it doesn't work out so be it - they have to enjoy it don't they

mrsratty · 17/10/2006 14:40

2ManyPimms - We should hear by this afternoon about the Junior job, I was told Thursday were you told Wednesday. My DD is in the JL dresses as a nrse, fairy and in the mini band.
The monsoon call was to see if DD was free the week after next, and then wthey will decide if they want her to go to the casting next week. Would love her to do Monsoon as I love the clothes (in the sale!). We live very close to one and the slaes generally start mid week so we get a good choice before the weekend shoppers get in!

lolly and Julie
Can I ask who your children are with please?
It helps to know that you have had positive experiences with those agencies

julie4travel · 17/10/2006 14:45

lolalou - my dd is three and if we get a slow train can be an hour on the train. the cm shoot i took her took the journey took ages as we were longer on the tube than on the train! plus photographer was an hour and half late so her patience wasn't the greatest by then. she did at that point ask if we could go home! pros and cons i suppose. luckily they did her photos first.

mimi1uk · 17/10/2006 14:46

good lucky mrsratty re the monsoon, we all want a piece of the monsoon pie lol, i think our kids should get discounts from the shoots they do, has any one every been given any freebies??? from shoots apaprt from tea coffee and lunch lol

mrsratty · 17/10/2006 14:47

Hairclips and a pair of cream tights!

julie4travel · 17/10/2006 14:48

lolalou- my ds is with b and b, he was with sw last year, my dd starts with ts on first jan they dont start using the newbies till then. I applied her originally back in may so have been waiting since then! all she has done is the cm shoot and a star now casting nothing at all via an agent. their are a lot of kids on here who have done lots of work yet most are with kl, bb , ua, mot to name a few.

julie4travel · 17/10/2006 14:49

mrsratty - better than nothing!

Quadrofiendia · 17/10/2006 14:50

2manypimms i want a brownie!!! am off again!!

Lolly68 · 17/10/2006 14:50

Lolalou - my DD is with Elisabeth Smith. She has had two jobs and 5 castings since she joined in May. I do like them although they do have a few babies on their books, they are very reputable and that plays a big part. The big ones at the mo though are UA, Kids, and B&B. When my son was with ES 15 years ago - he got so much work and ES was the tope agency back then. There are a lot of agencies around now so you have more choice.

lolalou · 17/10/2006 14:51

Julie - Sounds like you have got an excitingnew year ahead of you - forgive my ignorance what is star now?

Lolly68 · 17/10/2006 14:52

Quad - get back to that housework and then get round to my house to do get mine done and then you can have a brownie!!

lolalou · 17/10/2006 14:53

thanks Lolly - ES was an original choice - they seem to pop up in all the mags when an expert is called upon to comment on CM -
Unfortunately for us it was a no from them - your DD seems to have had a lot of work since she joined - good luck for the remaining months of the year

julie4travel · 17/10/2006 14:57

lolalou- www.starnow.com basically you can apply for some unpaid or paid work on this site. you can register and they email jobs through to you weekly. you dont have to pay for that service. if anything appeals then join up and pay the fees and who knows. we have been lucky since joining. i did 3 months initially and just extended it by another month. you create a profile for your child on their with pictures etc and apply if anything comes up. my ds did his first film in sept from their. blink and you will miss him part, yet he loved it.

Ragamuffin · 17/10/2006 16:00

mimiuk1.......On the subject of Freebies we've had

  1. A parcel of about 6 or 7 books from WHSmith!
  2. A full school uniform for each child including socks and shoes after a back to school TV Ad
  3. A toy Doctors set and toy ambulance after another commercial
  4. A longsleeve T-shirt and pair of summer sandals - another TV ad
5 and snap......a pair of cream tights and some hairclips and hairbands! Yet another TV ad

Most of the freebies were on TV ads as opposed to photographic stuff.

housemum · 17/10/2006 16:05

Lolalou - ES are one of the "traditional" agencies ie they've been around for donkey's years and still have a good reputation. They may have turned you down on distance - did you say you were an hour out of London? I am 45 mins away, in Hampshire, and knew someone whose dd was with ES purely because they had moved, but she said that they wouldn't take on from outside as they had enough inside M25.

housemum · 17/10/2006 16:08

Rsgamuffin - sounds like TV is where it's at!! How old is/are your LO (s) and who are they with?

thorntons · 17/10/2006 16:13

Afternoon everyone! Littlemadam, unfortunately dds pics from 2 shoots wont be in White Company catalogue till at least next Feb (Along with Dylansluckymums ds) .They shoot quite a few months in advance as publish 8 catalogues a year. Mratty, good luck and fingers crossed re Junior and Monsoon. DD did a Monsoon shoot last Oct with Thumbs DD.My DD was nt very cooperative so they didnt use any of her shots. They used some lovely pics of Thumbs dd for website and catalogue. Pimms, mmmmmm please can I have a cyber bite of one of your brownies? Delicious! DD made some Indian sweets for Diwali at preschool today .They taste yummy though have probably be on the floor etc knowing what toddlers are like!!

littlemadam · 17/10/2006 16:23

When DS was doing a shoot a while ago, his photographic team were to do Monsoon next, and they said you got a discount if you were photgraphed! Is this true????

We've not had much for freebies, just some toys and the car DS got last week. Good luck Mrsratty two at once!! did you hear on Junior, B and B say for DS its almost certainly Thursday now! May not be the same one tho.

Thorntons and DLM, will make mental note. -sounds of cogs grinding-
