Quadrophenia · 27/09/2006 20:37

lanismum · 27/09/2006 20:37

lanismum · 27/09/2006 20:37
Quadrophenia · 27/09/2006 20:38

how many minutes???

lanismum · 27/09/2006 20:39

oh god, 27!

julie4travel · 27/09/2006 20:39

quad - i can see what you are saying. i personally think something like this could be worse as so many kids there trying to get a contract

www.modelsearch.co.uk

i can see i am going to be on the phone again to them tommorow!

OP posts:
Quadrophenia · 27/09/2006 20:41

oh same as me!!
Not so sure I should imagine a 'model search' is probably very different to a pageant although to be fair i wouldn't really know. i don't think 'obvious' competition when it comes to appearances is a good thing, and despite the fact that my kids model its never touted as a competition to them.

educatingrita · 27/09/2006 20:43

Julie, I can see where youre coming from and if you want to go and genuinelly think he will enjoythe experience then its your son and you know him best.
Its down to each individual family to judge what their child will get out of it and I feel a bit sorry for you as you should be allowed to go without feeling guilty if thats what you want!

Im not sticking up for the contest just think its not up to us to make her feel guilty if she wants to go.

Good luck whatever you decide.
Quad, Ill have some of what your drinking please!

Quadrophenia · 27/09/2006 20:43

so my kids don't see that they are better than anyone else or worse than anyone else if they do or don't get chosen, we just don't go about it that way. Whereas in a pageant thats what its all about and could lead to great upset and unecessary disappointment on the childs part.

lanismum · 27/09/2006 20:44

i dont really get the model search thing, if the parents think their child has the potential to be a model, why dont they just send pics off to an agency? why bother with all the stress and mucking around? confuses me?

lanismum · 27/09/2006 20:46

mind you, it doesnt take much to confuse me

julie4travel · 27/09/2006 20:46

quad - i asked my ds and he said he wants to do it. he looks at it as a bit of fun not as a competition (same as us really)he hasn't had much work to realise he is up against other children and just wants to make friends with them. u wait if i go i could be posting on here saying never again as too much competition and people taking it serious, who knows? pass the alcohol over full of flue so need something to get me better!

btw lanismum now i know we are similar age it accounts for our similar taste in music, we were doing it at the same time if you get what i mean.

educatingrita noone is trying to make julie feel guilty and you are right she is best placed to make the decsion for her child. but has this issue has not come up on this forum before i think there is certainly a place for debating it. When i first posted my concerns there were a number of mums going for it and this certainly wasn't a case of me getting at one mner.

am slinging the wine in your direction, its ace when you have a drink in the week (hic)

Quadrophenia · 27/09/2006 20:49

lanismum my sentiments exactly about the model search, we are in tune tonight

julie4travel · 27/09/2006 20:49

quad i dont think your having a go i can see both sides.

lanismum · 27/09/2006 20:50

oh come on ladies, enough of the alcohol talk, iv been straight edge for 11 weeks now! and to add insult to injury, my mate sent me a text at 2 this morning saying she was out clubbing, i was not best pleased, i got my revenge though cos the big dope left her bag on the bus and lost her purse, im surprised the bomb squad wasnt called!

Quadrophenia · 27/09/2006 20:50

julie4travel · 27/09/2006 20:51
