Yeah for hump day, half way through treatment must seem like a huge relief Smile

I'm here and following your journey but my dm's journey had started to take it out if me... I'm emotionality spent Sad

We have just completed the third chemo... After a 2.5 hour delay to be seen. That makes a grand total of 23.5 hours at the hospital this week.

Dm had a few tears this week, the effects of the drugs has started to become a pita and she started losing her hair.

She decided to shave it off and start with the scarf wearing, she was so worried about the children's reactions but they have been great . They love touching her head and my dd has been shopping with dm for pretty scarfs.

I have a week until we leave so we are making as many special moments as possible...

Barbie thank you for the flowers Smile all is fine here.
I think it's great that your mum decided to take control and shave her head.
You must be very proud of your children and you sound like a deeply gorgeous daughter.

Now, Zombie, are you keeping secrets from us? Who is causing all this laundry? Are you having clandestine assignations that you're not telling us about? Hmm? Grin

And I hope you're not conducting any new science experiments Grin

Hope all goes well tomorrow, don't overdo it. (((Bear)))

LineRunner · 22/08/2014 00:27

Just popping by to say hello. Let me know if you want chocolate.

mummylin2495 · 22/08/2014 01:53

Good luck at your appointment later. Enjoy your morning treat of breakfast ! Hope the bad days stay away over the weekend so you can enjoy it.

IamtheZombie · 22/08/2014 11:22

Morning.

I have to say I'm well impressed with the cario-respiratory clinic. I arrived about 5 minutes before my appointment at 9.45 and was on my way out the door by 10.00. I was also greatly relieved to learn that my Left Ventricular Ejection Factor was between 58 - 62. It was 55 2 months ago and I know the oncologist was a bit concerned. So was I as I was beginning to secretly worry that heart damage was part of the reason I feel so debilitated at times.

I had a disturbed night and was waking frequently. I hope the steroids vacate my body soon! I decided none of my errands were really urgent so came straight home and shall be trying for a nap soon.

There are a few heavy showers moving through so further laundry is postponed until tomorrow. I've more than enough to be getting on with inside after my nap.

Otherwise I have to say I feel quite well still. xxx

Glad to hear everything went so well at the cardio clinic. I think a nap sounds like a very good idea. Maybe the weather is doing you a favour by making you put off the laundry, I assume you have to ration your energy expenditure at the moment.

mummylin2495 · 22/08/2014 20:46

That was excellent that you were seen so quickly and back out again so soon. Happy to see you are still feeling well. Did you manage to get your nap ? We haven't had any rain here today and we don't want it for the next fortnight because we have the air show starting here next thurs for four days and the town will be packed with holiday makers, so rain for all of them and the show would be a disaster !
Have a good nights sleep tonight.

iklboo · 22/08/2014 20:47

Glad to hear about the cardio clinic Zombie. Glad to hear you put off doing laundry & rested instead. Hope you have a good night & get some good quality sleep. Mucho hugs & love xx

mummylin2495 · 23/08/2014 22:33

Hello Zombie. I hope You have had another day of feeling relatively ok. I wish it was the same every day for you. Did you manage to get all the washing done today? Hope you sleep well tonight

IamtheZombie · 24/08/2014 22:59

Evening!

I napped on Friday. I had another disturbed night on Friday.

I really napped yesterday. I slept fairly well last night - for about 11 hours.

I napped today. I feel I may sleep well again tonight. Fingers crossed anyway.

I'm otherwise still feeling pretty well. A few twinges but so far very manageable.

All fingers & toes crossed for things staying manageable.

LineRunner · 25/08/2014 12:09

Hi Zombie, how's things today? I am staring out at the rain, but persuading myself that the garden needs it.

mummylin2495 · 25/08/2014 13:16

Hi Zombie, hope you are still feeling well today. What an awful day with non-stop rain. Puts paid to any outdoor activities dosent it. Hope you had another good nights sleep.

IamtheZombie · 25/08/2014 21:16

Evening! Grin

So far, so good, magi.

The sound of rain is good for napping as well, Liney.

I did sleep well, mummy.

The last few days have been magical. My son and I have fallen into the habit of chatting for ages on FB. It's all so natural. We talk about this for a while and then we talk about that for a while.

Never even in my wildest dreams did I ever envision having this sort of relationship with him. I barely allowed myself to dream that we might have any sort of relationship.

This has brought me an incredible sense of peace and joy.

Zombie you always seem rather muse ish to me!! Glad you are feeling the joy. You certainly deserve it and more.

ArsenicyOldFace · 25/08/2014 21:33

Found you! Smile

What a lovely muse (and yay for modern technology)

mummylin2495 · 25/08/2014 21:36

I am so happy for you that your son is in your life. It must lift your spirits enormously. I too love the sound of rain and one night I actually slept on my conservatory just so I could hear it beating on the roof ! It's so relaxing. Glad to see you are still feeling well. Fingers crossed it lasts a bit longer.
I am just watching lost families on the tele., it reminds me of you and always makes me upset because its so lovely when the parents meet their child. Sleep well Zombie

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/08/2014 10:05

Its lovely that you have built such a warm relationship with your son. I hope you are feeing OK today.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 26/08/2014 10:42

Hi Zombie.
So glad you're feeling well, long may it continue.

Lovely to hear about your chats with your son, really lovely Smile

House full over the w/e, DD2 and Boyfriend did the Ice Challenge with people pouring buckets at them from 3 different windows Grin, in the pouring rain.

Luckily rain kept the neighbours inside so the y didn't get the full brunt of the language Grin

Hope today is good, lots of love. Flowers

Barbie1 · 26/08/2014 21:39

zombie how utterly heartwarming and beautiful to read about the emerging friendship between you and your son Smile

I would like to ask a question if I may regarding scalp treatment during hair loss? Please feel free to ignore me if it's too personal or not the place.

I have started to pack for the relocation on Friday, I can see in my dm eyes that she is struggling and needs to rest. She has been bloody marvelous up until now, keeping going and refusing to rest so the children don't gauge how Ill she is. No doubt she will sleep for a week once we vacate the spare room!

Sleep well zombie. Don't stay up too late chatting Wink

mummylin2495 · 27/08/2014 01:34

Hi Zombie, I'm guessing that you have crashed today? I hope the bad days are bearable and over as quick as possible. Thinking of you, don't bother to reply, we all understand now.

IamtheZombie · 27/08/2014 21:46

Evening.

I ran errands yesterday despite the Tax truck hitting me the night before.

Today I have done nothing.

I have to be at the hospital for an oncology clinic appointment at 9.00am tomorrow so will be having an early night.

ZombieHugsâ„¢ to all.

You should also trademark 'tax truck', I think. It is very expressive.

I am trying to work out how to do TM in super on this laptop. I have the sudden urge to trademark something. Maybe 'arse' Smile

Good luck with clinic Flowers

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 27/08/2014 21:58

Blush don't understand 'Tax truck', is that to do with your treatment or HMRC? Blush Sorry, didn't want to blank it.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow, hope your appointment goes well.

Lots of love xxxBearxxx

IamtheZombie · 27/08/2014 22:38

Arse, it's not my phrase to â„¢. Do you have a numeric keypad on your laptop and/or do you know how to enable the relevant alpha keys to act as numeric? If so, you simply hold down while entering 0153. Release the key and voila â„¢.

Bee, it's to with my treatment. The chemo drug is Docetaxel also known as Taxotere and shortened to Tax by those of us in the cancer club. The side effects don't manifest for a few days but when they do it's as though you've been hit and run over by a truck.
