Zombie's journey with breast cancer

IamtheZombie · 15/04/2014 23:24

The thread that Val started has now been moved to General Health. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health/2016081-Zombie-needs-her-limbs-holding?msgid=46439734

Please keep posting there if you wish.

As most of you know, I'm having my second mastectomy on Thursday. I will almost certainly need to have more chemotherapy.

This is my thread for those who wish to walk beside me on my journey.

Planning to visit Zombie later this week wherever she is. I found taxotere absolutely horrible but wasn't affected nearly as badly as poor Zombie. I had the same oncologist and he is brilliant so here's hoping he can come up with a plan for her.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 24/06/2014 22:35

Hope it's onwards and upwards with the blood count.
Have a good night.

magimedi · 24/06/2014 22:41

So pleased to log in & hear from you.

Crossing every digit that those neutrophil counts go back up again asap.

mummylin2495 · 25/06/2014 00:27

Just seen your latest post, but hopefully you are asleep now and your blood recovering whilst your resting. That's areal blow that your whole plan may now be in doubt, but you did say before that they would only give you the next dose if you were well enough, for now it seems you are not but who knows what tomorrow will bring.
I'm sure your niece and your friend are only to glad to feel that they are helping you, it's horrible sometimes when there is nothing you can do for someone so I'm sure they happy to help.
If they can't continue the chemo you have started on , I hope they have a good alternative, although you say you will push for the Docetaxal.
I didnt know that Zombies wore knickers, thought they just had strips of cloth, methinks your getting a bit fussy Grin
Thank god you have good neighbours too to look after the zombie cats.
Here's keeping everything crossed for better results for you in the morning
Thanks

Morning Zombie, no news yet about the neutrophils ? I guess that's what you are waiting for. Hope it's going to be better news for you today and that you can soon get home.will keep my fingers crossed for a better result today.

Barbie1 · 25/06/2014 11:09

What a busy night you had! Hope you managed some shut eye in between all that poking and prodding?

Sending you get well wishes from S.K.....

Hope you are home soon x

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/06/2014 11:10

Crikey - you don't get to sleep much do you!

Hope the results are good.

IamtheZombie · 25/06/2014 13:38

Afternoon update.

Neutrophils have turned around and are heading in the right direction. Today's score is 0.9 - so near, yet so far! The doctor has high hopes that another dose of G-CSF today will tip me into the safe can be discharged and sent home zone by tomorrow.

So, come on TeamZombieâ„¢ keep cheering those neutrophils on!

If you want to continue with Docetaxal (as I would in your situation), maybe ask your big honcho oncologist if they can give you Neulasta or Neupogen shots after future infusions? They're used with chemo to boost your white blood cells and neutrophils.

There might be a reason they haven't been offered to you, but it could be worth asking. Neulasta worked well for me - I was very lucky not to get the severe bone pain which is a side effect for one in three patients.

thegreylady · 25/06/2014 14:23

Yes I had Neulasta too. I had a bit of pain/stiffness in my neck and jaw after each one but it was short lived.

mummylin2495 · 25/06/2014 14:35

That is great news Zombie, everything crossed that neutrophils continue to rise so you can get home tomorrow and you can relax in your own home once again. Fab update

mummylin2495 · 25/06/2014 14:45

Oh I forgot to ask if you have your new knickers !

WingDefence · 25/06/2014 15:48

Here, have some cheerleaders to cheer on those neutrophils :)

mummylin2495 · 25/06/2014 21:59

Hope you get a good night Zombie, well as good as possible seeing as they do all those obs during the night. Here's hoping the neutrophils have risen even further tomorrow. Thinking of you.

magimedi · 25/06/2014 22:31

Go Zombie Go!

I swam for you today - sounds daft but I didn't want to go & swim but I dragged my sorry arse to the pool. I got in & was not enjoying myself at all. Then I thought of you & I did my habitual lengths for you. I thought of you every sodding length I did.

Hope you are home tomorrow - bet the Z cats are longing to see you.

magi

well done you on pushing yourself to swim! Thanks

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 26/06/2014 08:52

FX for today Zombie.

I'm far too polite to enquire about your undercrackers!

IamtheZombie · 26/06/2014 11:42

Good morning!

Bloods were drawn about 2 hours ago. My doctor arrived just as the vampire finished and gave instructions that my bloods receive top priority. I am not the only one who will be deeply disappointed if the neuts haven't topped the magic 1.0 level.

I'm so optimistic that I have showered, dressed and started packing up.

Yes, I have brand spanking new knickers.

magi, I'm really touched by your swim. xxx

My niece probably can't collect me until around 4.00 but I just want to know I'm good to go. I also want to go get some fresh air.

Confession: Tuesday night and last night I donned my invisibility cloak at 9.15pm and slipped out for 10 minutes each night. Don't tell anyone.

magimedi · 26/06/2014 11:53

So hope you can get out & enjoy the 'fresh' air!
