Just recently home from hospital and dinner.
The appointment with the oncologist went well. My CT scan results weren't available yet but Dr. Gadir stressed that the results wouldn't change his treatment recommendations. If the scan is clear the treatment will be intended to cure. If the scan shows further spread the treatment will be to keep it under control for as long as possible.
I will start with 6 cycles of Docetaxel. Dr. Gadir stressed that is a very tough regimen. I will start on a modified dose of 75% and if I tolerate that well we will probably increase to 100% after a couple of cycles. Cycle is the usual 3 weeks between treatment. I have my pre-chemo assessment appointment on 2nd June. The first cycle will start a couple of weeks later.
I will also have another course of Herceptin. That may start while I'm still receiving the Docetaxel. That will be discussed at my next oncology appointment on 3rd July.
When I see my BCN tomorrow morning to have Serena drained I'll ask her when the scan report should be ready to go to the Multi Disciplinary Team. Apparently she will then be the one to tell me the results.
So the journey has well and truly begun even though parts of the path are yet to be revealed.
Ally and I are about to start on the wine!
