Wow Bundle I love R$ - getting old thats my problem. Do you do that medical phone in that is on Thursday afternoons...

Re earlier post: How do all your kids cope with tiredness - both DD1 and DD2 need to be in bed earlier than I can get them in to bed on the days I work...

I'm a freelance web developer / programmer when not on maternity leave. Used to teach in FE too.

Has anyone worked out the overall mumsnet IT bod/teacher/meedja type/boffin ratio?

hoxtonchick · 17/03/2004 15:10

Going against the grain here! I work part-time as a researcher for an independent health policy think-tank. I love it - interesting work, very flexible, nice people, right next to John Lewis & cheap lunch. What more could I want? oh, I work 2 days 1 week & 3 days the next, so officially half time. No-one seems to notice when I'm in or not though....

Haven't done- except as an online teacher for chqnnle 4 once a week. When we lived in London I worked Saturdays as a tutor at a tutorial college. I loved it- got to be a grown-up for a day and also meant dh was very good with ds1.

Now I NEED to work again. Purely for money. We are forking out a fortune (+100 quid a week) on therapy for ds1 which to be frank we can't afford, and the credit cards are almost full. It's hard for me to go out to work as ds1 makes me totally unreliable (for example last week his LSA was ill so the school couldn't have him in- add regular meetings etc). So I'm searching out all sorts of stuff from home. Am half way through applying to be a CV writer, am setting up a website (not competition for mumsnet!- it will be called Nautral Mums, and will proide free downlaods and be a bit hmmm holistic for want of a better word- no forums though!). Have just become a real nappy agent. They're short on the ground down here so am hoping there's a bit of a gap, and am currently flogging half the family silver on ebay. Anyone got any more ideas for me then do let me know.

bundle · 17/03/2004 15:28

sonnet, I have produced that, and love it, the buzz of live programmes & especially like embarrassing topics about bottoms & the like
have you phoned in???

Sonnet · 17/03/2004 15:55

Not yet Bundle - but I might now (and drop something criptic into the "problem" about mumsnet!!

Trained as a nurse but have been involved in medical research for past 14 years as operations/project manager. Am just about to go back 15 hours/week next week now over pregnancy related nausea/bleeding/general eurgggh. Am a trained reiki practitioner and want to (no will) set up own business once baby is born offering a range of complimentary therapies. Am looking for premises at the moment.

fisil · 18/03/2004 07:25

Jimjams, do you want to sell my cards on your website? Actually, I bet there are loads of crafts going on with people here - we could set up our own collective!

I work 7 - 4:30 five days a week and Sunday evenings as head of maths at a secondary school. Used to work far longer hours but ds came to my resuce and gave me a life again!

lorne · 18/03/2004 07:54

I do secretarial work for building contractor. At moment I work 3 full days. Get to drop ds at Nursery first and childminder picks him up on the three days I work. DS starts school in August so I am going to do five mornings then from 9.15 until 1.30 so will be able to drop ds off at school and then pick him up at 3. Will use after school club for holidays etc.

Jimjams · 18/03/2004 10:27

Yes please fisil. It's not up and running yet- I've got as far as buying the domain name- I'm aiming to have it up an running by the beginning of May. Collective sounds a very good idea. I'd like to offer CV writing on there as well. And real nappies of course.

I was looking at a similar thing in the States last night funnily enough.

spacemonkey · 18/03/2004 10:31

jimjams, i'm a web developer so if i can offer you any advice re setting up your website just contact me thru another talker (not trying to get business from you btw, i meant for nowt!)

Jimjams · 18/03/2004 10:47

spacemonkey · 18/03/2004 10:47

motherinferior · 18/03/2004 11:33

mothernature · 18/03/2004 11:41
