I'm a curate in the Church of England. Officially wrk 6 days a week, though I try to only do weddings and occasional one-offs on Saturdays. Work 2/3 evenings a week as well as 8.30-5.30, though it does have the advantage of being quite flexible as i work from home and generally could cope if ds was ill and unable to be at nursery.

Slinky · 14/03/2004 22:10

I work part-time in a children's nursery - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - hours from 9am - 2.30pm - term-time only.

Absolutely perfect - drop older 2 at school/collect them after and no worries about childcare during holiday time. Youngest DD2 comes to work with me at the moment, although she goes to school in September.

nutcracker · 14/03/2004 22:32

No i don't but i'd like to.

Slinky - I want your job, it's ideal for me

Teacher on maternity leave, possible going back parttime but still to be confirmed.

collision · 14/03/2004 22:39

Yes..... I am front of house in our restaurant (DH is the chef) We live next door and ds is in a v strict night time routine. He is in bed by 7.20pm and I go straight to the restaurant and start working. It works brilliantly as ds is on the baby monitor in the kitchen so if he does ever wake up....I drop everything and go straight to him! I do lunch and dinner 6 days a week.

eidsvold · 15/03/2004 06:38

teach secondary school full time - in work from just before 8 til about 4/5 and dd is in nursery. Have work to do of a nighttime - done after dd is in bed.

Had a year's maternity leave when dd was born - been teaching high school for 14 years both in Australia and the UK.

Will finish in 11 weeks due to emigration. In Aus not sure what I will do. Thinking about studying for my masters.

hmb · 15/03/2004 06:43

Don't all mothers work 24/7 ?

I go out to work full time in a secondary school, and have done for the last year. I finish work half an hour before the kidsm so I get to pick them up from school, which is nice. Before this year I worked as a SAHM

hmb · 15/03/2004 06:44

I also work when the kids have gone to bed, but I get the afternoon with them

Yes, I'm an IT techie and am part of a technical support team. I work for IBM but am at a customer site at the moment. I work full time (37.5 hours) and have done ever since dd was nearly 1 - she is now just gone 3. If I didn't work I'd go crazy.

kitty737 · 15/03/2004 08:00

Beccarollover · 15/03/2004 08:11

I went back to work last week - 3 days a week, IT Consultancy

stace · 15/03/2004 10:06

I work in a property company 9-2.45 4 days a week so im really really lucky that i get to drop kids to school and pick up but sometimes i do wonder when i will get off the rollercoaster as its just so hard to get everything done and have any energy left at the end of the day. Also holidays are taking time to get under control. I used to work 3 full days and have a nanny which was much easier but i missed the kids so much. I have another due in August and am really fretting on how i am gonna cope with all!!

CountessDracula · 15/03/2004 10:21

I work full time as an Business Analyst/Consultant for a large software house. Am based at home where I work 70% of the time

Going part time soon! Will start with 4 days a week, aim to end up on 3 days if I can

Demented · 15/03/2004 10:23

I work from home for my DH he has his own business, book-keeping and accounts so I answer the phone when he is out and help him with paperwork etc. He works odd hours as it is trying to work round the children (21 months and 5) so has been known to ask me to work at 11.30pm. I don't work regular hours just as and when.

momof2 · 15/03/2004 10:25

I work as a Coordinator for a Service Desk for one of IBM's business partners. I work 9-5, get in after doing the school drop and take my break to do the school run up to the childminders.
However, am training to be a childminder, and also trying to get pg!!

Freckle · 15/03/2004 10:31

I have a part-time job working for dh's firm (he's a solicitor) keeping their library up-to-date and in some sort of order. I work when it suits me and depending on how much work comes in. However, I often bring the work home and do it in the evenings/weekends so that I have more free time during the week when the boys are in school. Am just about to start training as an advisor for the CAB (unpaid ), which I'm really looking forward to as it will utilise a lot of the skills I acquired in my BC job (lawyer), but which have been buried for the last 10-11 years.

MeanBean · 15/03/2004 10:32

Working at home for charity 16 hours a week - have difficulty fitting it in. Particular problems with self-discipline, posting on Mumsnet instead of working...
