Does anyone know where one might purchase a property for no more than £260k in a nice part of West London / Surrey ..........? I guess no-where but thought I'd ask anyway - just in case!!!

I guess the only way you would do it is if you bought a house in need of "substantial modernisation"

FanjoFanjoWhosGotTheFanjo · 31/07/2006 22:29

I don't think so.

I mean, I live in a reasonably niceish part of East London (always cheaper than West London). I think the 3-bed places around here are like £400K, at least.

Twiglett · 31/07/2006 22:29

why SW London?

try SE London you may have more luck

hunkermunker · 31/07/2006 22:30

Depends how far west you want to go. You might get something round here (Ruislip).

Carmenere · 31/07/2006 22:30

Carshalton. We have just moved here, paid 200g for our which has 3 beds but is tiny. An extra 50g would get something lovely. I really like it here, it's very pretty with a village type atmosphere.

bunyanvillas · 31/07/2006 22:32

East Acton? Really? West London just because I like it. Lived in East London (Walthamstow) for a few years - and wouldn't rush back! West London has lots of lovely green space etc etc

Thanks re: the Carshalton tip - shall take a look!

£260k would buy 3 bed semi in Carshalton or wallington (and you have the Sutton grammar schools as well as good primary schools).

Its a bit of a funny proce range anywhere to be honest because of the increase in stamp duty above £250k. Prices tend to jump from £249,995 to £275,000.

How about ex-local authority?

Found one on Tewkesbury Road, Ealing W13 (West Ealing)

bunyanvillas · 31/07/2006 22:45

Hmm .. poss. S'ppose could stretch to more like £285k if necessary .... is Surbiton any good, do you know?

Quick hi-jack - Hello Ladymuck, how are you doing?

suejonez · 31/07/2006 23:00

How many beds? Isleworth in Middx nor Surrey but just across the river to Kew and trains into Waterloo. Cheaper becasue there's no tube but need to make sure you live near the station or river NOT near the sewage works!

cece · 31/07/2006 23:02

I was going to say Isleworth or Whitton. Hounslow definitely get 3 beds but not nice.

CountessDracula · 31/07/2006 23:04

how about this in Ealing

CountessDracula · 31/07/2006 23:06

this in colliers wood

CountessDracula · 31/07/2006 23:08

Hanwell, lots here

suejonez · 31/07/2006 23:09

reasonable road 5 mins walk from station in Isleworth

suejonez · 31/07/2006 23:11

or more modern

suejonez · 31/07/2006 23:11

are you sorry you asked yet

cece · 01/08/2006 09:05

suejonez - the first one is in a nicer location. I am inspired to look now!

cece · 01/08/2006 09:07

This one is on Isleworth borders with Hounslow. Very near to where I used to live!
