A little Mornington Crescent - anyone care to join in?

I just fancy a change of focus.

I'll jump right in with Great Portland Street - I think I'm entitled to do that, with it being beyond the autumn equinox, but before Halloween?

Any takers?

I didn't want to be accused of hogging the board, especially as MC seems to be quite close now. But since you have been kind enough, Wings, to invite me to Trifect, I will move us to

Stepney Green

AlbertGiordino · 05/02/2014 07:15

Any chance of MC has gone... has anyone noticed the date . Even if I play Willesden Green, with the central line wild, I cant envisage MC in anything fewer than 48....

MooncupGoddess · 05/02/2014 09:25

Ah but Albert, it's a tube strike day - that trumps the calendar restrictions, if we're playing Stapleford anyway.

Still an uphill struggle to MC but I reckon a neat Bellingdon to Rotherhithe will help us on one way.

AlbertGiordino · 05/02/2014 12:02

I remember reading somewhere that there should be no play during an RMT strike to show solidarity with the workers.

Das Kapital (4th Edition, (Mornikton Sichel Appendix) IIRC

MooncupGoddess · 05/02/2014 12:08

I'm sure that's Bob Crow's perspective, Albert Grin

flamingtoaster · 05/02/2014 14:50

Thank you, Maud. Assuming that the workers who voted against the strike and who are losing two days pay are wild ... West Ruislip Please can someone clarify if we can play stations where the trains are not stopping today and tomorrow due to the restricted service? There is nothing in any of my reference books which suggests we can't but I may be missing something!

FuckingWankwings · 05/02/2014 15:44

toaster, no, play can continue unhindered even if the tube service doesn't. Something to do with Cesare's Law, although I don't have the citation to immediate hand.

Anyway, South Hampstead keeps us out of the way of that potential Black Middle thrown up by Willesden Green, and hopefully (if I'm right!) also permits play under the Barking Suburb Exception, which is very useful in these circumstances, I'm sure you'll all agree.

Olivegirl · 05/02/2014 16:10

This pattern of play is following Keaton's rules. I've looked up extracts from the whole thing and it's quite clever.
I'm trying to work out the next move, as I can't quite get to grips with what Keaton actually means when he talks about a tripathonal
Game?
I'm going covent garden Wink

AlbertGiordino · 05/02/2014 16:44

I'm Playing Keatons with a WUTHLOC variation, which keeps Karl Marx onside....

st peters square

AlbertGiordino · 05/02/2014 16:45

sorry, I meant

oldham mumps

sorry again

MooncupGoddess · 05/02/2014 17:39

Albert, you are very naughty and if you're not careful Wankwings will materialise in spectral form outside your bedroom window and clank her chains all night.

'I can't quite get to grips with what Keaton actually means when he talks about a tripathonal game'

It's complicated I know, but my understanding is that it refers to a situation in which the Metropolitan line is unfessoned and play is centred around the saltire formed by the Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines.

So, Covent Garden is a strong move, and enables me to make a pentagonal swivel to Neasden, thus taking us significantly closer to MC.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/02/2014 09:17

Hmm. I've never been a fan of Keaton, preferring the Grimwade Protocols, which deal better with tripathonals and are less likely to leave one in gronk, but I'll go with the prevailing mood.

Westminster

flamingtoaster · 06/02/2014 11:40

Yes tripathonals can be very tricky - especially if played after dark. I think I will play safe with a Lutyens Envelopment to Gants Hill.

FuckingWankwings · 10/02/2014 15:45

oldham mumps indeed. When the cat's away, eh?

Never mind. We're back on track and, Goddess, I agree about the unfessoned Metropolitan point.

I like the Westminster to Gants Hill envelopment very much, although obviously it blocks me from playing any Piccadilly Line station due to the orthogonal Trip it creates.

Never mind. I can make a two-tone slip to Shepherds Bush Market instead, and that always makes me very happy.

Olivegirl · 10/02/2014 19:32

Ahh mooncup that's a good explanation...it's becoming a little clearer as the game continues.
After the last few moves it's looking highly possible I might be able to "turn the trunk" and flip the stanglow to get to ...
"Tower hill"....

Keaton would be proud ...

flamingtoaster · 10/02/2014 20:18

Indeed, Olivegirl. At the risk of upsetting the Keaton purists I suggest following the orthogonal vector to Debden.

Olivegirl · 10/02/2014 21:57

Good one ... That leaves this game wide open for flag tail moves .. Which I can imagine people will use if we are thinking along the lines of the1933 grovelet seminar.
So Leicester square for now.

MooncupGoddess · 10/02/2014 22:24

Good work, Olivegirl.

A crossbeam swivel to Northfields for me.

Olivegirl · 11/02/2014 09:00

Are we all heading for the same thing?
Are you all seeing what I'm seeing?
Who is going to do the right thing at the right time?

The game is becoming tense but exiting..Wink

A fairgant shift to

Charing cross

FuckingWankwings · 11/02/2014 10:38

Canons Park.

That's all.

flamingtoaster · 11/02/2014 21:21

(Mumsnet is behaving very oddly this evening at my end but I will try to post my move.)

I see it Olivegirl, I see it - moving ever closer with Fosdyke's tangential filtration to Chorleywood.

AlbertGiordino · 12/02/2014 14:16

mornington crescent Angry Envy

FuckingWankwings · 12/02/2014 17:20

Oh, Albert, I think I can see what you were thinking there and I' so sorry. How frustrating! You were thinking that the Fosdyke would allow a hexagonal tip to somewhere like Barkingside or South Ken, yes?

Unfortunately that was not going to work here, not with the Jubilee giving us a (most unusual) compassing issue.

I think I can keep things going if I just nick on over to

Earls Court

Olivegirl · 12/02/2014 21:09

Phew! ..

DLR to

Star lane

flamingtoaster · 13/02/2014 14:04

Nice catch Wankwings. Playing safe a straightforward double reverse shunt to Belsize Park.
