Reports of Zombie's demise...

have been greatly exaggerated. She may be a wee bit battered and bruised, but she bends and doesn't break.

Most of you probably know her back story but, for those who don't, here's a very brief recap:

The last 2 1/2 years have been absolutely horrendous: family crises, a breast cancer diagnosis and 20 months of treatment for that, bereavements and sorting out her late MIL's estate. As you can imagine, she found it a struggle at times.

Just under a year ago, DZOH began an "inappropriate" on-line relationship with a woman he "met" playing scrabble on Facebook. At the time he was spending most of his time at his mum's house in Nottingham sorting things out and putting it on the market. The on-line relationship fairly quickly progressed to a full blown physical affair. The woman lives in Wales and he would pay her train fare to come to Nottingham to see him. Zombie was fully aware of everything that was going on and tried to do everything she could to save her marriage. He left Zombie in mid-February, first staying in Nottingham before moving in with her in mid-March. He continued to come back to DDS to take Zombie to her hospital treatments. In mid-May he started making reference to coming back to her. He finally did so in mid-August. Two weeks after he came back they went to Kos for a fortnight. Halfway through the holiday he told her that he was leaving as soon as they returned to the UK. Which he duly did on Friday, 13th September.

Zombie went through all the trauma, drama and devastation between October and August. That is behind her. She's relieved that that it is finally over. A few nights ago she realised that she was sitting here completely relaxed and smiling for no reason. It's as though an enormous weight has been lifted from her.

She's currently packing up his belongings, deciding what she needs to replace, etc. He will come with a man and a van in a few weeks time to remove everything. There are obviously other pracicalities to be sorted out but they are doing so in as amicable a manner as possible.

Can Zombie please ask those of you who are Facebook friends with her NOT to say anything publicly on there about any of this.

I just look forward to a week of only speaking English and not having to weigh up/curb any nuances. I've seen too little of like-minded English speakers lately, so there's a plan for next year.

Pleased to hear FD2 has settled with his Dad finally, well done Fid for facilitating that.

After a not brilliant start; 3 last local shopping trips, everyone said they were out for lunch, and then they all turned up while I was trying to get ahead for tomorrow!

But bride's dress is booked .

We went ice skating at Brighton Pavilion well they were fully booked but it was nice having mulled wine watching, bit of a pub crawl on the way back.

Then everyone realised DS hadn't ever seen Steel Magnolias. So we watched it. And I blubbed, and the girls blubbed, and the blokes pretended they didn't

Oh, and our boiler won't make the shower hot (boring, won't elaborate on long story) and last night DD2 said it sounded like someone ran across the roof (we told her it was Santa coming early) but actually the chimney has been blown off ! and she must have heard it rolling away - we don't know where it ended up.

Happy Boxing Day!!! Zombie hopes that everyone had a great Christmas.

Her day was absolutely super. Bacon sarnies at 10am. Champagne and smoked salmon from noon to 4pm. Christmas lunch from 4pm to 6pm. Present opening and party games accompanied by wine and cheese from 6pm - 9pm. A bit of telly until 10pm. Then collapsed into bed and slept until 8am this morning. Got home about 3.30pm. She thinks it will be another early night...

I'm all packed to go to England tomorrow, just packing FidBoy2's stuff as he's still at his friend's house. The doctors don't think his father will last the night, his poor mum called me yesterday to ask if it was OK for FidBoy to visit even though it was Christmas Day.

Which he did of course but tbh I think FB now deserves a break, lots of sleep and plenty of hugs.

And I shall be landing soon and having my first proper bacon sandwich

Fid, Norfolk's not undoable. But...

Zombie's best friend, Ally (who lives just outside of Dublin), messaged her a couple of hours ago on FB. Ally thinks her dad will pass away very, very soon. He is in poor health (tumour on pituitary gland) and very poor physical condition (severe heart problems and chronic emphysema). The latter 2 made him decide against having surgery for the tumour last year as he had only a 10% chance of surviving the anaesthesia and, if he did, a 25% chance of surviving the intensive care afterwards.

He had a fall yesterday and today was taken to Margate A&E where they have diagnosed a broken neck. He is on his way to Kings College Hospital in London. They will have to operate but his chances of surviving the op are very, very poor. Ally is absolutely distraught. She is waiting to hear what happens before arranging a flight to England.

Zombie has told her that if there is a hiatus between her arrival and his funeral (highly likely this time of year) that Zombie will drive down and bring her back to Chez Zombie for the interim period.

In almost any other circumstances Zombie would have come to Norfolk like a shot to meet you and the FidKids. Zombie will PM you her phone number. Give her a ring on Saturday or Sunday by which time she should have a better idea as to whether or not she'll be able to get to Norfolk.

Any and all prayers for Ally and her dad will be much appreciated.

Ally's dad is safely at Kings College Hospital. For the moment they are adopting a bit of a wait and see attitude while assessing all possible options. Fingers crossed they can come up with something.

Zombie has a confession. She is very, very ashamed of herself. ZOH messaged her earlier tonight on FB to say that woman's granddaughter is in HDU with bronchitis and asked her to pray for the baby (she's only a few months old) regardless of what she feels about that woman. Zombie found it very difficult to say she would do so. She wishes the baby no harm but competing with that is the desire for something terrible to happen to that woman.

Sigh...
