Hi

OP posts:
izzyrubi · 08/06/2006 21:14

tiger >> I sent you an email but it bounced back :( will try again. Oliver not registered with any agencies yet, too small, will wait a little bit then try and apply, we'll see!
DH loved the gift, it's very boyish, I also love it, thanks so much!

Scarlettsmummy · 08/06/2006 21:21

strawbery milkshake - what agency did you get the chessington job with? that sounds great! Was it tv or photographic?

shall - What agency did you get the call from for the kitchen spray job?

Hope you dont mind me being nosey, just shopping to see what agencies are getting work at the moment before I decide what to do

thanks

AllieBongo · 08/06/2006 21:22

hi scarlett. DS has been offered lots of castings from MOT. They are v good

Scarlettsmummy · 08/06/2006 21:25

hi there

have you got any of the castings you have been to or have you just had castings? I like the sound of strawbery milkshake not having to go to one for that job, nice and easy!!!

Scarlettsmummy · 08/06/2006 21:29

sorry, I have just read my message back and it sounds like I am being horrible (not meant that way, honest). What I mean is, it doesn't appeal to me to get loads of castings, it's jobs we want, if you see what I mean

Smile
AllieBongo · 08/06/2006 21:29

we went to 1 casting for M&S he didn't get. Was offered a job for littlewoods without a casting but wanted to watch wallace and gromit at school instead. Was put forward for Toysrus but didn't get picked in the end. I then started to turn down castings as he is 6 and likes footy and is busy at school also so was not practical to keep going to london all the time, we live near Cambridge. So now will only do straight bookings if requested until he's more keen and i can afford to pay my own travel costs.. We've turned down BA, Littlewoods, Legal and General and M&S again, she also called this week but i missed her. Now breathe alliebongo

AllieBongo · 08/06/2006 21:30

don't be a plum Grin you're not mean!

Scarlettsmummy · 08/06/2006 21:32

lol, that was a long sentence!

Thats what I would prefer. I had a friend with I think it was Elizabeth Smith (as she said they were the first model agency?) and she got umpteen castings and few jobs, so cost her a fortune in time and money getting around as the casting fees never covered the travel.

I know you need to go to castings to be seen and all that, but it should be viable also

Scarlettsmummy · 08/06/2006 21:33

thanks for that by the way

Smile
AllieBongo · 08/06/2006 21:34

i have a 1 yr old as well and there is no way i can take her. she was how i got into it in the 1st place

Scarlettsmummy · 08/06/2006 21:38

I look after my niece too, so it is not always as easy as it seems to just drop everything on the hope that you might get a job. If you know you are doing it and getting paid that is different, without sounding mercenary

Scarlettsmummy · 08/06/2006 21:40

how did you highlight that word in your sentence to make it bold?

AllieBongo · 08/06/2006 21:45

look to the right! ->

cyan · 08/06/2006 21:47

scarlettsmummy> we have been to castings for a book, xfm, mothercare x 2, boden. ds has done 4 jobs so far since we changed agency, mothercare, elc (which was a casting/job), book job, and he did another job on tues without a casting. tbh if we lived any further out I dont think we would do it (and we only live a half an hour tube ride out of central london), but i find the travelling v tiring, and soemtimes its for nothing. sound really negative, but i mean sometimes its so knackering trundling on the tube with the buggy etc. i personally would never drive to any jobs/castings as you never know where you can park.

thalismum · 08/06/2006 21:47

Hello again everyone!

Gosh I have missed so much!!! Well done you izzy, you must be so proud! Love the name too!

I have just got back from my brothers in Barcelona, lovely time, but look at the weather Ive come back to, its gorgeous!!!!!!

How are you all, busy I hope!

cyan · 08/06/2006 21:49

scarlettsmummy> are you with b&b? im so confused i cant remember who is with who!

Scarlettsmummy · 08/06/2006 21:55

AHA sussed it!! Thanks!

Ive got an interview with bruce and brown and was declined by bizzykidz. I was quite glad at the time after reading on here but called a few companies since to see who they use and most of them said bizzykidz amongst others, so really confused about that now. Never mind, excited about bruce and brown now though and they seem to have a good name so wish me luck with that one

Scarlettsmummy · 08/06/2006 21:59

cyan - what agency are you with now and who were you with before changing?

cyan · 08/06/2006 22:02

we are with urban angels now, we used to be with norrie carr until feb.

Scarlettsmummy · 08/06/2006 22:05

wow, norrie carr are supposed to be good, that surprises me? werent they one of the first to start up years ago, or am I thinking of someone else.

I know what you mean about the driving thing. My sister paid nearly £20 for an ncp carpark once at a casting when she was there for nearly 2 hours. She got lost after having a moochy round in the shops after and couldnt find the car for ages! Oops

mrratty · 08/06/2006 22:11

Do you any of you ever take siblings with you when they aren't booked?

cyan · 08/06/2006 22:13

norrie carr started up in the 60s so have been around for years. i just find them v snooty, expensive and brusque. dunno didnt feel right with them, seems like they have a fair few on their books but then again what do i know??!!! i just didnt feel happy found them quite old fashioned, also the fact that the photoshoot cost £70+ and then another £130 for the model book annoyed me and no photos!!! whereas UA its £40 for the year plus 2 prints from the shoot.

Scarlettsmummy · 08/06/2006 22:20

That sounds a bit more reasonable doesnt it. Good move I'd say. You can't work with people you don't feel comfortable with can you.
Good luck!

I have to go now because my daughter has got a temperature so I am going to put her in a coolish bath and give her a cuddle
x

Scarlettsmummy · 08/06/2006 22:21

(i didnt mean in the bath of course!!)

hemart · 08/06/2006 22:56

Anyone knows how long does mot take to reply to an application? I appled at a few agencies and got a yes from Bubblegum and Rascals, Norrie Carr and Elisabeth Smith and Bruce & Brown want to see my dd but also applied at mot and Kids London, now I'm not sure if we should go with one of those who want her or if we should wait to hear from mot and kids london as i heard good things about them, any advice?
