How many of us actually meet Shona's little sidekicks criteria?
She states that all of us on Mumsnet are in our 30s, living in London and have a degree. How many people here meet that criteria?
How many are popping prozac depressed at the shit life we now have with kids?
Damn that woman is nasty!

40's
Oop North
Degree and 2 postgrads
Work PT
Chocolate digestives
Just ventured cautiously back into Boden after it all went a bit "fun" for a while.
2 kids (and this is the bit the journo's don't appear to be able to grasp about MN:) no more kids will be had due to my last bout of Hyperemesis Gravidarum and 3 months in bed, survived without depression ONLY thanks to Mumsnet - LucindaE's HG support thread and Classics.

That is all.

usualsuspect · 11/04/2013 16:45

Why take anything some bandwagon jumping 2nd rate journo writes seriously? She writes for the DM ffs.

I'd be more pissed off if someone who wrote for the Dail Fail liked us.

Anyway moaner Shona, I live on a council estate in the Midlands, no degree.

HTH.

Sparklingbrook · 11/04/2013 16:47

Interestingly the DM have an article today where the writer calls Holly Willoughby a bimbo. Confused

slug · 11/04/2013 16:48

40s
London (but deeply untrendy sarf London, no meeja types round here)
Several degrees
I don't need to pop pills because by dearly beloved DH prefers life at home with the munchkin than working. Husband happy, child happy, mum happy.
I can't afford Boden (see non-income generating husband above)

DancesWithWoolEnPointe · 11/04/2013 16:49

Not in London,
4 degrees,
in 30s,
no to bodem, print too big. But yes to scarves and other "mumsie" brands
do take ADs, sorry to let the side down
WAHM

madammecholet · 11/04/2013 16:50
Grin

30's
degree
no where near London
don't wear Boden
wine & handbag addict

thermalsinapril · 11/04/2013 16:52

Her "popping prozac" comment offensive Angry Depression isn't a joke, it's an illness. It's also inaccurate, because there are likely to be the same percentage of Daily Mail readers taking antidepressants as there are Mumsnet readers.

thermalsinapril · 11/04/2013 16:53

is offensive

I vote we disguise ourselves with MN scarves.

ivykaty44 · 11/04/2013 16:58

thermalsinapril

that is so not true! 80% of DM readers take antidepressants, the other 20% are illiterate Wink

TooYappy · 11/04/2013 17:00

30's (for a few months)

Scottish

No degree but working my ass off to get a diploma that I'm going to fail if that helps?

Not prozac as they make me even more hyperactive but yes do take sedatives not because of my children, just because I wasted so many year with their father and have horrid memories

When I was with their F (sorry he is not a D at all) this place was a life saver I couldn't have wished for better place to escape. Until he found me here too often

The article is nonsense, what about the Canadian Mumsnetters and America, Australia, Germany, Norway...

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 11/04/2013 17:00

Dp has just caught up with the fact that mn has taken a bashing in the press and would like me to point out to anyone that might be reading that he knows for a fact if it wasn't for the step-parenting forum he would be single and if it wasn't for the support of an amazing group of people on a thread in general health I would indeed be taking Prozac because I would have fallen apart months ago.

He also says that he has no idea what Boden is but I'm usually in my m&s pj's when mumsnetting so I can't be a typical mumsnetter.

Justine your email was great it's just a shame your having to defend a great place like mn

YoniJoking · 11/04/2013 17:03

In my 20's ex Norf Londoner (ish) done 1 year of a degree course.

Justine, you are fab.

MmeLindor · 11/04/2013 17:10

I am committing the heinous crime of not RTFT, so apologies if this has been said already, but I can understand her being upset if that is true - that there was a thread on here that called her ugly etc.

I have no idea. I haven't read her articles before (knowingly), and don't think I have seen her talked about on here.

For the record

40s
Lives in Scotland
No degree

Am I allowed to link to a blog here? Some of us bloggers are getting fed up with being bashed in the press and from other bloggers and have written posts about why we love Mumsnet. There are some fab blog posts there.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 11/04/2013 17:10

I'm in my forties. I grew up in London/Home counties borders but am an economic migrant to the Midlands. I have a degree and a PGCE and other bits and pieces.
I think I possibly do have dysthymia (long-standing low level depression) but that could just be because my heating's been busted for a week now and am seriously p'eed off ATM - not much likelihood of it being fixed now til Monday Sad
My DC's are my raison d'etre but I enjoy other people/things too Smile

usualsuspect · 11/04/2013 17:13

I've just realised who she is, she wrote that article about sending her girls to private school and being skint didn't she?

She was probably desperate for the money then.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/04/2013 17:17

She's often on This Morning too. Saw her on it this week talking about drugging her children.

Oh is that her? I saw that section on TM and thought she seemed slightly blinkered in her views. Wanting to shock for shockings sake.

I'm not surprised Holly W is getting a pasting. It seemed like she was defending MN in that same episode, so you know, hang her hang the witch etc etc

MmeLindor · 11/04/2013 17:22

Yes, Usual. Just googled it.

here

Ok, so we weren't kind, but she did put her life up for discussion in a national newspaper.

ginslinger · 11/04/2013 17:23

Do click through to the other blogs, there are a few really fab stories on there.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/04/2013 17:25

Oh I missed Holly W defending MN. I know I have seen Sibary on there before though, and yes, she is generally quite confrontational and has some quite interesting opinions.

MyFace · 11/04/2013 17:26

London = Check
30's = Check
Degree = nearly there
Depressed= ...

Hang on, how does this journalist know me? Hmm
