How many of us actually meet Shona's little sidekicks criteria?
She states that all of us on Mumsnet are in our 30s, living in London and have a degree. How many people here meet that criteria?
How many are popping prozac depressed at the shit life we now have with kids?
Damn that woman is nasty!

Only managed A'levels, spent far too much time mucking about. Blush
Have never lived in London. Wouldn't want to either.
Don't wear Boden.
Single parent.
Pills? I practically rattle with em.

I would never expose my children the way she does. I actually find her quite disgusting for doing so.

AmandaPayneAteTooMuchChocolate · 11/04/2013 17:32

I'd like that link too MmeLindor.

I haven't read the article as I'm not going to give them ad money for it, but if it is true, I think an intentional revenge hatchet job would be a low and cowardly thing to do. An inaccurate, low and cowardly thing to do.

How dare a group of women have opinions, about something other than raising their children. How dare a group of lively, engaged women, from all over the country, with all sorts of incomes and educational backgrounds have a robust and open exchange of ideas and debate issues.

I bloody lurrrve MN. Not just for the help people have given me along the way - like wailing about DD1's sleep or sourcing a decent kiddie wetsuit - but because I get to talk, intelligently, to people about proper issues and current affairs. Not something my life is overly blessed with at the moment as a SAHM.

Justine and HQ - It must be so galling to see MN bashed in the popular press. But, in the words of the West Wing's marvellous Charlie Young "if they're shooting at you, you know you're doing something right."

AmandaPayneAteTooMuchChocolate · 11/04/2013 17:32

Sorry, cross post MmeLindor re the link.

MmeLindor · 11/04/2013 17:33

Huff post reporting the DM spat with Holly

I like Holly. She seems to be a good egg.

morethanpotatoprints · 11/04/2013 17:34

I too find her disgusting, her poor kids having mum wash her dirty laundry in public.
Oh how the mighty fall, we might not have much but what we do is paid for.
I think her and her dh are a bit thick actually.

Lessthanaballpark · 11/04/2013 17:35

Why does everyone enjoy bashing MN? What is about our forum that's so different from others? Oh wait a minute .....

early 40's
degree
Home counties
no money whatsover- born semi-posh but has been downhill since then!

MmeLindor · 11/04/2013 17:35

morethanpotato
lets not take pot shots at the journalist. It only gives them ammo

Phil Schofield's impassioned defence of Holly is great, isn't it?

YoniMontana · 11/04/2013 17:39

30s
Degree
No Prozac
NE Scotland

PetiteRaleuse · 11/04/2013 17:42

That is an utterly vile piece about Holly W. She comes across as a genuinely nice person. Wow, that's one of the nastiest uncalled for articles I have seen in a while.

Squarepebbles · 11/04/2013 17:44

Devon,43,poooooooor,1 degree,no Boden(well dc had a bit of Mini),defo not yummy or organic anymoremore Sainsbury Savers these days ie cupboards full of white and orange.

Did Shona not read the thread night before last re the poster who felt her life was worthless.Loads of us tried to help with the result being the op arranged a gp appointment.

Never a week(perhaps even a day)goes by without help and support being given. You know I've been flamed over the years,we all have but sometimes you just need a reality check in the form of a virtual slap to make things become clear which is often the aim when you start a thread in aibu in particular.

Surely you take the rough with the smooth with everything.

Also for every opinion there is a counter opinion as illustrated in the drugging children thread re Shona's drug bragging article.Plenty of people defended her actions.

And Shona you write for the Daily Mail- pot,kettle- with big buggering bells on!

greenandcabbagelooking · 11/04/2013 17:44

20's, have a degree, not in London.

SmellieWellies · 11/04/2013 17:44

I love Holly too.

And Justine MN.

And MN.

If it were not for MN, I would possibly be divorced (although tbh, it is still touch and go on occasion). MN lets me vent, allows me to see different perspectives, and among other things has enabled me to see things from my DH's point of view and my DM's point of view, making me a more tolerant person, and deffo happier, more mature and more grounded.

[sticks out tongue]

MyFace · 11/04/2013 17:45

Hear, hear Amanda

MmeLindor very interesting blog and good advice about not posting on AIBU until one is used to the site.

For some reason Phillip Schofield has always slightly scared me..

SaskiaRembrandtVampireHunter · 11/04/2013 17:46

I do have a degree, but I'm in Yorkshire (not a posh or trendy part though), in my 40s, have never taken Prozac, don't wear Boden, never been to a Starbucks or drunk a latte (coffee should be black and strong enough to keep the spoon upright IMO)

MmeLindor · 11/04/2013 17:50

Thanks MyFace

I that journalists are given a brief to find threads where MNetters are being nasty, and they will find something. 30,000 posts a day - of course there is going to be a few not so nice ones.

What a lot of people don't mention is that generally nasty posts are reported, or at least commented on. I have not seen totally one sided threads.

Aside from the DM NHS bashing thread. It was a classic.

diabolo · 11/04/2013 17:50

Not me, 40 now, living in East Anglia but from oooop North originally, no degree sadly and only take Diazepam when I have to fly.

I love my life, my DH and my DS.

I've seen other people attempt to stereotype Mners but I don't meet those criteria either as I don't read the Guardian, am not left-wing nor do I make my own quiches.

GlaikitFizzog · 11/04/2013 17:50

No degree
Taking Prozac (to get over lack of degree)
Not in London

3/4 ain't bad!

And I like holly, get her on for a webchat! And Phil too!

TolliverGroat · 11/04/2013 17:54

Schofield doesn't have a journalism background either AFAIK; he has a music radio and sitting-in-the-broom-cupboard-with-Gordon-the-Gopher background. Yet Jon Whoeverheis reserves his bile for Holly on the basis that she's female and pretty. She's presenting This Morning not News At Ten -- she doesn't (and Phillip doesn't) need a journalistic background for that.

catgirl1976 · 11/04/2013 17:55

London No

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/04/2013 17:55

mid twenties, live in Scotland, have a degree, no prozac....nup, stereotype fail here too

The article about Holly Willoughby was utterly vile. Really nasty.

Don't read the DM ('cos it's shite)

JugglingFromHereToThere · 11/04/2013 17:58

I hope you're beginning to enjoy this thread of fine defence and affirmation of the site as much as I am Justine !

Especially loving the comments about whether or not people are on Prozac - all showing in their different ways MNs characteristic warmth, humanity and empathy - and a mile apart from the type of chiched, narrow-minded judgement that fills the DM's pages Smile

Southeastdweller · 11/04/2013 18:00

30's
Degree educated
Live in London
Not on Prozac though I'm sure some people think I should be

Fulfilled most of the stereotypes in her article and also in one of Christina Odone's, about the north London Starbucks. I'm a MN walking cliché

I suppose I should be grateful for the fact I'm not a mummy Grin
