I've been buying some of these from market stalls - you can get ones that are not mint condition for under £1 - and ds1 loves them. The pics are more detailed and less garish than in the newer ladybird books, and the stories are more detailed and have longer words. 3 little pigs is my favourite, even though the man carrying the bricks is smoking a pipe!

popsycal · 15/01/2004 19:34

i still have three little pigs here
i have lots of book and my fave one is a big words and pictures book by richard scarry - cant wait for ds to enjoy it!

Are you going to sell thm Popsycal?

emmatmg · 15/01/2004 19:53

The magic porridge pot is my favourite and if DS1 + 2 have sausage and mash for tea I have to flatten the mash out to cover the entire plate and pretend it's porridge flowing through the town, obviously the cut up sausages are little people!!!

popsycal · 15/01/2004 19:53

i doubt it - couldnt part with them!
ds will love them when he gets big

What was the about the donkey that was lonely? There was a pic of him under a big starry sky, looking all mournful. And one about a nasty dwarf who got his beard stuck in something?

mummysurfer · 15/01/2004 19:55

I'm off to ring DB now as he had Tootles the Taxi & loves selling stuff like this.

popsycal · 15/01/2004 19:57

Just sneaked into DD's room and removed mine, I've got just over 20, think they'd better find a slightly safer new home !

Ned the Lonely Donkey, I used to love that, don't still have it unfortunetly.

mummysurfer · 15/01/2004 20:12

Well done Popsycal - sorry just disappeared to watch Life Down Under.

Linnet · 15/01/2004 20:24

I have tootles the taxi, got it 2nd or 3rd hand from a neighbour when I was little. I think it's been coloured in on the front and on pages in the middle. I'll be going to look out all my ladybird books once I get dd to bed. I have the green umbrella and the rapunzel one as well. Not sure I could sell them though dh probably would, he keeps trying to throw them out and I won't let him. I do have more but can't remember what they all are.

popsycal · 15/01/2004 20:27

right - everyone has to hunt them out!
and then list so we can reminisce

OP posts:
popsycal · 15/01/2004 20:27

I think I could be sitting on a small fortune here. I had literally dozens of ladybird books when I was wee (including Tootles the Taxi btw) and my mum has kept most of them.
Will bookmark the page in case of hard times.
