I wonder what our children will remember as their favourite book? I can't imagine any of the new style books lasting as long. The artwork isn't as impressive for a start, with the ladybird books (and yes I mean Cinderella in particular) there was so much going on in the picture I would stare at them for ages and imagine other stories from them. Surely the purpose of a child's book!

Just looked at the site and its like looking at my childhood bookcase. Recognised loads of covers instantly. No doubt they're lurking in the parents loft.
As for school books, our first reading scheme books were Dick and Dora.

Fave book from childhood was just one story in a collection about fairy type creatures that were born in beautiful flowers. They were buds then opened up into gorgeous flowers with a baby in the middle.
