If You Were 21 Months, Where Would You Have Hidden The Car Keys

I was meant to meet a friend at 11am but DD has hidden my keys and I cannot find them anywhere. Any fresh ideas? I have looked in, on, under and behind everything I think.

Have been stuck in as had swapped car seats round (got DHs car and mine having MOT) so DHs car unlocked outside. Was going to get a taxi but could not leave the car unlocked as on main road.

Today has been a total waste of time!

Look in, on, under and behind everything once more, and you'll find them in the last place you look guaranteed Sad

in the bin. I couldnt drive for a week when my ds1 did this - try the bin or also in the bottom of the buggy in the hall..........good luck. A more recent one was the card out the cable tv thingy - cost 30 squids to get a new one.

desperateSCOUSEstrife · 12/04/2006 15:56

check in shoes and boots
ds3 did this to dh's car keys
and dd1 went back to germany with them stuck in her army boots
we were frantic trying to look for them until dd1 phoned a few days later
they were sent back through post

queenrollo · 12/04/2006 15:56

have you actually HAD the keys today? because the last time i lost my keys.......dp had taken them to work with him by mistake.

schneebly · 12/04/2006 15:56

I would check anywhere they could have been 'posted' such as vcr or in the washing machine etc!

oops · 12/04/2006 15:56

Out of the cat flap????

bundle · 12/04/2006 15:56

toy box, wellies, fridge, drawers

oliveoil · 12/04/2006 15:57

toy box

mine always shove things in there and I find them rattling around at the bottom covered in fluff

WigWamBam · 12/04/2006 15:58

Down the side of the mattress ... that was dd's favourite hiding place for everything. Or in the handbags she used to play with.

flatmouse · 12/04/2006 15:59

Have you tried asking your DD?
My DD at that age hid DH's mobile phone at Grandpa's house - we were half way home when we realised we hadn't got it. We asked her where it was, she replied Chair and sure enough - it was stuffed down the side of the chair.

kid · 12/04/2006 16:00

I would say in the bin or washing machine. My kids always had a fascination with those two places!

trace2 · 12/04/2006 16:01

i once couldnt find mine, when i changed dd nappie, guess where they was, poor mite had them in for hours lol

WestCountryLass · 12/04/2006 16:01

Yep, I had the keys, swapped the car seats over, keys were on bottom step, DD was playing with them in the lock of the front doow, could not find mobile as DD had been playing with that too Blush. Went upstairs to call friend to arrange a place to meet as no moby and when I come back down keys had vanished.

I have looked in all those places but not emptied bin so off to do that which will be pure joy as threw away left over custard earlier....

Thanks for the suggestions!

And I have asked her but she is not forthcoming with the info, all she has said all day is "teats" which is her word for booby feeding.

have you checked the door

purplemonkeydishwasher · 12/04/2006 16:07

er, toilet?

Spagblog · 12/04/2006 16:07

Ds would have posted them out the letter box
DD would have put them in the fridge

MrsBadger · 12/04/2006 16:07

in saucepan of toy kitchen

kid · 12/04/2006 20:11

did you find them?

georginarf · 12/04/2006 20:16

I have just spent 2 weeks blaming DD (16 months) for the theft of my car key and have turned the flat upside down.

Last night I found it in the outside pocket of my bag whilst searching for the spare key outside a friends house Blush

usual places for hiding here - shoes/boots/out the cat flap (and therefore often found halfway down the road)/down back of the sofa/plant pots/bin/washing machine

LeahE · 12/04/2006 20:19

In the bath/sink/toilet?

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 12/04/2006 20:20

in the bin? dd2 did this with our one and only back door key once.

marthamoo · 12/04/2006 20:21

Ds1 threw the house keys out of the window and into the street once..I had to go out in my 'jamas and retrieve them.

MadameDeMars · 12/04/2006 20:22

they are in the scoot around car that you can lift the seat up. Hidden away in there.

Or

Tidied nicely away inside one of those lovely storage things that you have to chuck the toys in.

(well those are two places that I have found the DTs shoes recently)

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 12/04/2006 20:24

why don;t you try an experiment? sit her down in the same place, with a different set of keys, and see what she does. I really wouldn;t be suprised if she repeats herself.
