If You Were 21 Months, Where Would You Have Hidden The Car Keys

WestCountryLass · 12/04/2006 15:54

I was meant to meet a friend at 11am but DD has hidden my keys and I cannot find them anywhere. Any fresh ideas? I have looked in, on, under and behind everything I think.

Have been stuck in as had swapped car seats round (got DHs car and mine having MOT) so DHs car unlocked outside. Was going to get a taxi but could not leave the car unlocked as on main road.

Today has been a total waste of time!

oh yes.... the back of the bookcase, which is where I found the second phone handset. They had dialled 1 and so the phone was engaged all day. I thought I'd lost all my friends lol

Weetabix box? Found mine there after 3 days of getting someone else to drive the children to school. Funnily enough ds knew where they were all the time...

WestCountryLass · 12/04/2006 21:51

Still not found the keys but DH is home with the spare set, a bottle of shiraz and some ferreros for me :)

We did give her another set and see what she did but she wasn't playing that game, might try that again tomorrow.

The suggestions are all great, making me double check where i've looked already, I am now in bed watching Grand Designs and drinking vino and snuffling up my choccies though Blush

DD has hidden ours in a toy lawn mower she has in the garden (it has a little compartment on the top with a lid)

Also the toothbrush holder and in the cupboard under the sink in a little box we keep old old cloths in.

MrsStrutsHerStuff · 12/04/2006 21:56

dd once put our house keys in the bottom of her pram, i searched the full house one day as we were going out and needed to lock up, i went out anyway and while in town dd was out her pram and bent down into the basket and picked up the keys!

Miaou · 12/04/2006 21:58

DH says try the video Grin

BettySpaghetti · 12/04/2006 22:02

in the cat/dog basket
behind curtains
down the back of a radiator

mumfor1standfinaltime · 12/04/2006 22:02

(Have been wondering myself if you were 15 months where would you have hidden the blue tooth dongle for the laptop)

Do you have a pedal bin? This is a classic, or outside the catflap? In the loo? Outside on the door mat after being 'posted'? Smile

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 12/04/2006 22:33

of course the thing with giving her another set is she won't do it until you're not looking. then you've lost 2 sets Grin

lucy5 · 12/04/2006 22:40

My dd used to pop things down the radiator.

WestCountryLass · 13/04/2006 06:50

Yeah, she is a radiator fiend too, I have poked a broom handle behind them all and nada.

found them yet?

vkr · 13/04/2006 07:25

On a ledge under the dining room table - only found because the torch attached to the keyring was on and the long strap was dangling down. Thought my friend and her two girls would have to move in with us !!

yackertyyack · 13/04/2006 08:52

Hope you have found them by now???!!!! I am gonna copy this list and stick it on the fridge so that when my monster gets mobile and starts hiding things I know where to look!!

blueshoes · 13/04/2006 09:15

Her pockets

Bozza · 13/04/2006 09:22

DD hides things under the sink in her ELC kitchen. You know you can removed the bowl. She had been squirelling things for months without us realising, and after we couldn't find DS's Christmas stocking knight and horse, missing since Boxing Day in March I relented and replaced it. Next day DH removed the bowl and found a magpie's nest of bobbles, socks, DS's knight, cereal packet light sabres etc.

Also Mars' suggestion of inside ride-on car has been a favourite with both DS and DD. DD once left a cup of milk in there.... Eurgh.

PinkTulips · 13/04/2006 09:38

plant pots, forgot that one and also the hatch in the ride on car people mentioned, we didn't even know it had one but dd did!

honneybunny · 13/04/2006 09:49

In potty?? Ds1 hid my carkeys in his potty on Monday and came telling me v.proudly:"mama i've done a poo again". Took me to the potty, and said v.surprised: "oooo - it's not a poo, silly mama!"

Nightynight · 13/04/2006 13:02

ooh yes, pockets and compartments inside toys, such as in the roof of a FisherPrice playhouse, or under the seat of a ride-on car. Also stuck in a lock somewhere as your dd tried to unlock it.

am v curious to know where the keys are now!
