I'm also v. impressed - I work in Early Years so regularly find my self looking after 6plus children but never by myself and also I get to give them back at the end of the day!

The bit of Italian grammar I struggle with is who gets 'lei' and who gets 'tu' - I know in theory but it practice I always get frazzled.
For example, someone serving me in a shop but my age (24) or younger - seems far too formal to call them 'lei'. Or someone elderly but my relative

It is OK to "dare del tu" to a shop assistant who is your age or younger, but I think it is more polite to use il lei. I don't always do it though, it really depends.
