As a parent, what "issues" annoy you the most?

OK, what is it that gets you ranting? Holiday prices, education reforms, the state of the maternity service? What would you change most, if you could? Discuss...

In that siutation then I would assume that when the person parked there were no disabled spaces available. Would seem the most logical explanation.

The thing that probably annoys me the most is the assumption that now I have children I am a boring mumsy person whose views are only valid on children and childcare. I gave a quote to a friend standing for re-election in a local government post recently, on our local libraries - which I think are pretty good - and his agent rang me up to change it 'just a bit' to 'When you've got small children, parks and play facilities are essential'. I blew up at him.

just thought of another which reflects the whole gender thing - SHOES - the fact that girls - apparently - don;t need practical winter shoes - "covered" shoes - ie shoes not boots but ones where their feet won;t get wet. Someone in Clarks once told me that they just don;t do them. Does that mean that families with one of each gender leave the girl behind if they go for a walk together?

The sexualisation of our culture to the point where little girls are supposed to wear sexually provocative clothing and breast feeding in public is looked on as disgusting but getting your tits out for the boys is not.

'Choice' in schooling. Ha! of the five nearest primary schools to me, one is massively oversubscribed and the other 4 will not allow my daughter in on religious grounds. I refuse to pretend to the local bigot in a dog collar that I believe in his imaginary friend simply to secure a place at a school where I can trust the teachers not to routinely misspell her (quite common) first name.

Infantalisation of pregnant women. Thank you community midwives who insisted on referring to baby's 'pooh' and 'wee' and uttered the choice phrase 'Now you know your baby is floating in water in your tummy' as an opening line in the antenatal classes immediatley after we had introduced ourselves and ascertained that the entire group was made up of degree educated professionals in their 30's.

The way children are treated in restaurants. Aside from the contempt shown to them by 'children's' menus, the way kitchens seem to decide what is and isn't acceptable for children to eat. I've lost count of the times the cheeseboard has been sent back to the kitchen because the staff have 'helpfully' removed any cheese with any flavour because it's for a child. Then the stand by tutting as she gets upset when her favourite blue cheese is missing and she's seen it on another cheeseboard at another table.

The way that raising our children is seen as solely women's work. I am tired of explaining that dh is a SAHD because he is the best person for the job. I'm tired of the constant amazement that greets him every time he tells someone what he does. Would you tell a woman she was brave to be a SAHM? I nearly thumped the guy who asked me last week why I decided that my career was more important than dh's. It's not about career, it's about the best person for the job. And don't get me started on how all the woes of society are seen to be the result of women going to work and neglecting their children. Like men never had any input into the reproduction process, don't have children and appear to have no responsibility beyond sperm donation and the occasional bit of financial support.

Don't get me started on pink. As the mother of a blue eyed blonde girl, we are swimming under piles of the stuff.
