What Makes Your Area Unique?

Our neighbourhood has a "Buddhist Village", complete with health food store, alternative health centre, Buddhist temple, and a couple of vegetarian restaurants. Oh, and an ethical gifts shop.

Our street has a man who always sweeps outside with no shirt on, while singing loudly. Think Pavarotti, but only in appearance, not singing skills.

What's weird about your neighbourhood.

Half an hour to highlands, half hour to beach, 3/4 hour to Edinburgh :)

Smell depends. bridgwater has a code of the old CB radios (goodness I am OLD!) that was 'smellyville' or something like that, and hence has smell status. Not sure of other places though

I suppose the fact that I am the only Mumsnetter in the village makes either me or this place unique.
Other than that, there is a lovely half timbered pub,a cricket pitch surrounded by horse chestnut trees, a pretty 13th century church & just 200 people living here. Most of the house & farms are owned by the local estate,so there aren't many private houses here.

Oh and the manor is owned by a very famous & very nice lady who invited all the village around for Christmas drinks.

spacecadet · 04/03/2006 22:28

i hadnt thought of that, i think "i am the only mumsnetter in the village"!!

lots and lots of parents with young kids, delightful urban village, second-hand bookshops, first-class muffins, proper coffee, pretty park, award-winning veggie Indian restaurant...and the ex manager of the Buzzcocks works in the library! Shame we are going to have to move out as everyone else has noticed how nice it is around here--and we can't afford somewhere bigger!

Hah! No-one can top my manor, obviously.
