I feel uncomfortable using Elasoplast on a patient with black skin.

Is it racist ?

Count yourself lucky, Supermum, I can't get the damn things to stay on! They slither around for a bit, then take themselves right off just as I'm handling something the blood will stain ...

GRRR at everybody who's calling pukey-beige "flesh". Flesh is whatever a person's flesh colour is, not pukey-beige!

Fwiw, in Sunny Brazil the plasters were a slightly darker shade of pukey-beige. I reckon they'd taken an average of all the skin colours, meaning they matched absolutely nobody. Be fair, have you ever seen anyone matching their plaster? Me neither.

OP, you may as well point out to your patients that plasters don't match anyone at all (this might be a problem if you are the only person they do match!) I like the idea of different colours for different sizes :)

I'm quite pale and "nude" bras do match my skin tone reasonably well. I think they are a bit vile and granny's undies coloured though so only wear them out of necessity with particular tops, so I guess was a bit baffled at someone choosing to wear that colour for no purpose really.

when a white person puts on a plaster, it's not as if it just blends in with the skin and becomes totally invisible. I think its just the colour they started - I have dark skin and it doesn't bother me in the least.

Though ofcourse we could all start wearing those blue ones people use in catering :)

I have ones with flamingoes, giraffes and rhinos on them.

Im in the north east, county durham. Something like 97% of the school population is white British so no doubt we skew things somewhat

I don't like blue plasters, or cartoon ones, because they're waterproof. Yuk.
