FWIW, and I am only posting this in the hope that you might feel better, I suspect that carla's drink problem is ongoing, and will be such for a while. i suspect that is what lies behind her most bizzarre posts on MN which frustrate so many of us as well as Carla.

I'm sure when she realises you were sincere she will be mortified. As I said, I thought your patience was amazing. Disregard the comments made here, please.

Thanks soapy. I realise there is an illness here, and so can and will forgive such a direct outburst.
This is the first time I've posted on one of carla's threads as they don't always make easy reading and I thought I'd try to understand her better - clearly that's not going to happen and I will leave her to those who know her better in future.

Am annoyed at myself for feeling so hurt.....

It's ok. Dh has just read my posts (which is something I never allow him to do!) and agrees I've said nothing insincere.

I hope carla gets a good nights sleep and I'll try not to lose any sleep over this either.
