I like it, its not chavvy

Tinker · 22/01/2006 14:07

It sounds made up, I think.

edam · 22/01/2006 14:07

Don't like it (well, you did ask!). Sounds like the shop - Karen Millen.

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 22/01/2006 14:07

I dont like it but then I like traditional Bible type names, my boys are called Jonathan and Michael - I am boring

Then again, I can talk, when I was pg both times i wanted to call the baby ELSIE if it was a girl (always met with horrified looks )

If you like it then go for it

sorry, I think it does sound a bit chavvy....you did ask!

Nbg · 22/01/2006 14:11

I don't mind honest.

Thats why I'm asking.

Boys names are so hard to choose.

Meanoldmummy · 22/01/2006 14:12

Far too much like "millet" for my liking

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 22/01/2006 14:13

actually the more i think about it the more its growing on me (Millen not Millan)

Does it go with your last name? Sounds silly but I wanted ds2s name to go with ds1s name iyswim.

WideWebWitch · 22/01/2006 14:13

I don't like it. And it makes me think of Karen Millen, the shop.

Nbg · 22/01/2006 14:14

Yes it does go.

Tbh I'm not all that sure of it but I can guarentee that dh will love it and I'll grow to hate it.

RTKangaMummy · 22/01/2006 14:15

Not to sure here either

really sorry

what about for a middle name

or have as a 1st name and call him 2nd name iyswim

so millen george smith

and so call him george but let him have the option of millen later on

welshboris · 22/01/2006 14:15

How weird Kanga.

I was thinking of George!

The closest I've heard of it is Milan - I once knew someone whose first name was Milan (spelt & pronounced like the city). Quite liked it, but he would be in his 40's now, so I'm not sure what the effect would be of a baby being called Milan in this age of Brooklyns. But then there's Milan Kundera the novelist, so it's not a completely made up name IYKWIM.

mandieb · 22/01/2006 14:31

reminds me of mc millen nurses sorry .

cyan · 22/01/2006 14:36

I think it sounds like millet too

but at the end of the day it's your baby sod what everyone else thinks

Tinker · 22/01/2006 14:37

Milan Baros

TeddyRobinson · 22/01/2006 14:38

Don't like it, but like Tamba - I go for traditional/biblical names.

I struggled with boys names too and ended up with 3!

Feistybird · 22/01/2006 14:40

Not keen - I don't like names that don't instantly identify the sex - I wouldn't (without reading this post) know whether Millen was a boy's or girl's name.

RTKangaMummy · 22/01/2006 15:08

George

DS says he will get teased at school and called MILLY

flutterbee · 22/01/2006 15:11

I don't like Millen sorry it does sound a bit chav but,......like the others I like traditional names and I love George but then I would because my 10 week old ds is called George so I'm biased

MrsBadger · 22/01/2006 15:14

To me sounds more like a surname - 'mother's maiden name as middle name' type.
Nothing wrong with that but may not be the impression you wanted to convey.
