Well we're off to piza hut with some friends and the kids but we're going at 5.30pm so will be home early, just the 3 of us.

I think NYE in overpriced and over rated. But most people think I'm miserable too!

myrrhthamoo · 31/12/2005 09:42

We've been invited to two parties and we're not going to either. It's the first NYE in about 6 years that dh hasn't been working - I usually spend it alone (last 2 years I think I've spent it on MN ). Don't really like NY. I'm going to get a DVD from Blockbuster I think and we might have a takeaway. I think we are miserable sods though

ALMOSTANewyearANGEL · 31/12/2005 09:43

Auntybrandybutter · 31/12/2005 09:43

Birthday tomorrow!!!

Filyjonk · 31/12/2005 09:47

Oh god yes. We have a 6 mo and a 2.4 yo and might even just sleep through it.

expatinscotland · 31/12/2005 09:50

I'm hoping DD1 sleeps through, b/c we're close enough to town centre that we can both see and hear the fireworks off the castle, and they frighten her horribly. Fortunately, her bedroom faces north and the castle is to the south, so hope she doesn't hear them.

Pizza Hut sounds great!

northerner · 31/12/2005 09:52

Wow! How cool to live so close to the castle. I love Edinburgh.

Auntybrandybutter · 31/12/2005 09:52

I have been up since 3.30 so dont think I will make midnight anyway!!!

nutcracker · 31/12/2005 09:53

I am working until 7pm and then staying in. Will most probably be on here if anyone is on.

expatinscotland · 31/12/2005 09:54

Candles! Great idea. Have loads of 'em. Beeswax, too. Nice smell.

Of course, DH has to watch 'Chewin' the Fat', and we have half a bottle of bubbly we never opened.

We always stay in and we love it!

seb1 · 31/12/2005 10:57

Expat, I stayed there while I was a student in 1989, there used to be a cracking Italian near the end of my street the Caprice, I think, wonder if it is still there

pucca · 31/12/2005 11:12

We are staying in, i wouldn't go out on NYE if i had the choice anyway, it's awful and too expensive!

santasweetdreamer · 31/12/2005 11:16

We always stay in, I like having my family round me!

PantomimEDAMe · 31/12/2005 11:45

Don't like NYE parties either, or big events generally (that's why I avoided the big meet-up). Am staying in and curling up with dh.

We used to rotate with friends - one year they'd come over to us for dinner and next year vice versa. But then they moved to Eire (don't think i was just to escape us...). Have been to a few dinner parties which are fine. But really looking forward to doing nowt this year. Christmas is always sooo busy because our family is spread around the country so by NYE I don't really want to make any effort if it can be helped.

fisiltoe · 31/12/2005 11:51

Actually I've just remembered that I did go out on NYE once - as it was the day that my first baby was due, and somehow that meant that I had to go out!

DS1 was having a good time in there, and didn't make his appearance for another 11 days!
