DH and I will be staying in with our 7 week old DS who has just come out of hospital today after being rushed in at the begining of the week because he had stopped breathing.

I am laying the kitchen table with party nibbles and we will help ourselves till midnight when we will all have a huge cuddle and a kiss and think how lucky we are before we go of to bed.

I don't think there is a night out in the world that could beat a good night in.

I loathe NYE - think it's mad to celebrate a random tick of a clock. Would prefer to celebrate on some sunnier date in May, perhaps - at tea-time. Much more sociable

Exactly. MUCH nicer than paying through the nose to get into a pub/club or go for a meal, then standing shoulder to shoulder with a load of pissed people all shouting over crap music, then finding that it's started to do that freezing needle drizzle when you get outside and there are no cabs.

But I hope that people going out tonight have great times, really

Crystaltips · 31/12/2005 17:13

we've been asked out at 8.30 - would rather have my slippers on and drink a cocoa ... but the kids are really excited - so it's for them really.
have decided to drive - so that I can make a quick get-away

staying in with some good wine and food. would only go out on NYE in the Caribbean where I could have a dance just a few metres from the sea while the warm night air rustle through cocoanut trees.

We're staying in, DH cooking a three course meal, drinking some wine and probably watching Jools Holland until midnight.

Haven't been out for NYE since DD was born (did venture to stay with my MIL last NY and went to BIL's house for a couple of drinks, but that doesn't really count!).

we're staying in with a posh takeaway, a dvd & a bottle of champagne. bliss.
